Paul Russell Williams, age 69, of Hayward, WI died Saturday, December 16, 2023 in Minneapolis, MN at the Abbott Hospital Neuro-ICU after suffering a stroke and brain aneurism. Paul was born in Minneapolis, MN to Lucas and Beverly Williams (both deceased) and raised in Plymouth. He attended Wayzata High School and the University of Minnesota, where he earned a degree in Bachelor of Chemical Engineering. He went back to the UofM and earned a Master of Science - Environmental Health in 1981. Paul began his career with Dow in 1976 in the areas of health physics and industrial hygiene. From 1978 to 1986, he continued his work in industrial hygiene, process engineering and technical service at Dow Corning Corporation, rejoining Dow in 1987 as an environmental specialist. As an environmental specialist, he oversaw regulatory and legislative issues pertaining to RCRA, SARA, Title III, TSCA and waste minimalization. His job took him overseas and many work colleagues became good friends, inviting him into their homes for meals after showing him the local highlights. It was an honor to reciprocate with dinners in our home when those colleagues were stateside. In 2006 after retiring, Paul earned a Builders Contractor license and as a class project designed and eventually acted as the contractor for the house we built and formally retired to in Hayward, WI. Living on Round Lake was been a dream come true. Paul's great-grandparents immigrated here and his dad and Uncle Hubert were born and raised in Hayward. Paul made his first trip to Hayward when he was weeks old and our family has spent most summers visiting since our honeymoon at the summer cottage 45 years ago.
His mother Beverly was a resident in memory care at Aspen Acres of Hayward, WI for the past year. Sadly, she died on Friday, December 8, 2023, only hours after Paul had been air-lifted to Minneapolis.
Paul is survived by his wife, Denise (McIntosh) Williams (formerly of Midland, MI); sons Matthew (Sarah) of Farmington Hills, MI; Erik (Laura) of Canton, MI; grandchildren Lukas, Evan, James and Cameron; brother Wayne Williams (daughter Elizabeth) of Eden Prairie, MN; extended family and many lifelong friends.
The family is planning a celebration of his life this Spring in Michigan. Please consider "Tunnel To Towers Foundation", American Diabetes Association, or your local food back if one wishes to make a donation on his behalf.
