76, a lifelong resident of Colton, was called home to heaven on March 22nd, 2016. Born in the mountains of Verdemont, Ca on November 25, 1939. Henrietta moved to Colton as a young child with her mother Dolores, sisters Dorothy and Conception "Concha" and brother Lupe. After graduating from Colton High School, she married Alfred Melendrez and together raised 3 children, Alfred, Richard and Denise. Henrietta was a long time member and employee of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Colton. She taught baptism and religions education classes, served as President of the Altar Society, the Blue Army, and eventually retired as Pastoral Associate. She sadly lost her husband Alfred, in April 2007 after 48 years of marriage. Henrietta was fortunate to find love again with Ignacio "Nacho" Chavez of Phoenix, Arizona. Whom she married in August 2008. They spent 8 happy years together before her death. Henrietta leaves behind a large and loving family. Son-in-Law "Emerald" John St. John, daughter-in-laws, Beverly and Lillibeth. She had 7 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Her Arizona family includes four step- daughers, Angel, Sandy, Lori and Diana. Affectionately known at "Q" she was grandmother to eight and great grandmother to seven. Henrietta will be missed by a multitude of cousins and friends. Services will be Tuesday, April 5th. Viewing begins at 9:00 AM. Followed by Rosary and Funeral Mass, at Immaculate Conception Church in Colton. Followed by Burial at Hermosa Cemetery in Colton at 11:30. Reception will follow at the El Sombrero Hall in Colton.
