Frances Jones Obituary

Frances Ann Moore Jones, 79, of Pottsville, passed away Friday of a "broken heart" surrounded by her loving family. She has now rejoined her beloved husband of 63 years, who passed away Jan. 3, 2016.

Born in Saint Clair, Feb. 16, 1937, she was a daughter of the late Francis and Eleanor Dimmerling Moore, proprietors of Moore's Hotel, Pottsville. There, she met her true love and future husband at the age of 15. They were wed Jan. 10, 1953, at Mary Queen of Peace Roman Catholic Church, Pottsville.

Shortly after, her husband was stationed overseas while she remained home to continue her education at Pottsville Area High School until her senior year when she sailed on the Gunther to be with her husband in France. There, they had their first child before returning to the United States, where they were blessed with six more children.

She was a member of St. Clare of Assisi Roman Catholic Church, Saint Clair.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert D. "Jonesy" Jones; two brothers, George and Joseph Moore; a grandson, baby boy Tobin.

Surviving are five daughters, Mary McSurdy and her husband, Jack, Emmaus, Debra Herring and her husband, Wayne, Schuylkill Haven, Michelle Hosler and her husband, Charles, Brockton, Ann Marie Miller and her husband, Michael, Saint Clair, and Colleen Jones and her husband, James Adams, Pottsville; two sons, James Jones, Ebensburg and Donald Jones and his wife, Michele, Barnesville; two sisters, Elizabeth Robbins, Mount Carmel, and Eleanor Bergen, Pottsville; two brothers, John Moore, Pottsville, and Dennis Moore, Palmyra; 15 grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; six stepgreat-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Frances always said, "If it's not chocolate, it's not worth eating."

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday from St. Clare of Assisi Roman Catholic Church, 250 E. Hancock St., Saint Clair, with Monsignor William F. Glosser officiating. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 to 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Joseph Center for Special Learning, 2075 W. Norwegian St., Pottsville, PA 17901. Interment will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, at the convenience of the family. Bruce T. Hart Funeral Home, Saint Clair, is in charge of arrangements. Condolences can be sent to www.brucethartfuneralhome.com.

What moves through you and all who support you is a silence, a quiet sadness, a longing for one more day, one more word, one more touch. We may not understand why your Mom left this earth so soon, or why she left before you could say good-bye. Remember she lived a full, loving, and happy life surrounded by her family and friends. And her life gave you so many memories too beautiful to forget.
Allen and I send our deepest condolences to Mary and her entire family.

The Broken Chain

Submitted By: litlebakergrl
We little knew that day,
God was going to call your name.
In life we loved you dearly,
In death, we do the same.

It broke our hearts to lose you.
You did not go alone.
For part of us went with you,
The day God called you home.

You left us beautiful memories,
Your love is still our guide.
And although we cannot see you,
You are always at our side.

Our family chain is broken,
And nothing seems the same,
But as God calls us one by one,
The chain will link again.

We are so sorry to hear of the passing of your Mother. Know she is with her beloved husband, Jonesy once again. I truly believe her heart was broken the day he left this earth. They are together and happy, in no pain. Just as they did on earth, they are watching over all of you and so proud of their family. Love you all!!
