Daniel "Dan" S. Plafcan, 60

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 16, 2015 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sauk Rapids for Daniel "Dan" S. Plafcan, age 60, who passed away Tuesday at the St. Cloud Hospital. Rev. Ralph Zimmerman will officiate and burial will be at a later date. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Sunday at Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home, Sauk Rapids and one hour prior to the services Monday at the church. Parish prayers will be at 4:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home in Sauk Rapids.

Dan was born Jan. 9, 1955 in St. Cloud to Andrew Jr. and Loretta (Sowada) Plafcan. He was united in marriage to Gayle Fleahman on Aug. 26, 1978 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sauk Rapids and they were remarried on May 30, 2014 in Sauk Rapids. Dan worked as a heavy equipment operator at Verso Paper in Sartell. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and St. Cloud Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #622. Dan enjoyed bowling, rolling games of 299 and 300, hunting and playing softball. He was an avid golfer and loved spending time with his family, friends, and the two family dogs. Dan was a dedicated, hardworking man. He was kind, reliable, smart, fun loving and generous. He was a wonderful husband and father and was the rock and strength of the family.

Survivors include his wife, Gayle of Sauk Rapids; children, Angela (Ruwan) Somawardhana of Pasadena, CA, Ryan of Minneapolis, and Courtney (Tyler Buhl) Plafcan of Cottage Grove; mother, Loretta of Sartell; siblings, Paulette Murphy of Eagan, David (Mary) of Sauk Rapids, Robert (Vicky) of Willmar, Kevin of St. Joseph, and William (Norma) of St. Cloud. Dan was preceded in death by his father, Andrew Plafcan, Jr.; and infant brother, Joseph Mark.
