Samuel Schneider Obituary

Samuel J. "Sam" Schneider, 52

Meire Grove

June 24, 1962 - Mar. 9, 2015

A  Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 12 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Meire Grove for Samuel "Sam" Schneider who died after complications from heart surgery on Monday at the St. Cloud Hospital. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 9 p.m. Wednesday (TODAY) and from 8:30 to 10 a.m. Thursday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Melrose.  Parish prayers will be held at 7 p.m. followed by the St. Joseph's Men's Society at 8 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.

Samuel Jerome Schneider was born June 24, 1962 in Melrose, Minnesota to Denis and Emily (Arnzen) Schneider. He graduated from Melrose High School in 1980. Sam worked on the family farm all of his life and at worked at various trucking companies, most recently at Specialty Turf and Ag in Albany for the past 15 years.  He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Meire Grove, St. Joseph's Men's Society, and the Green Grove Rod and Gun Club.

Sam enjoyed cutting wood and deer hunting.  When it came to deer hunting, he would rather be the one making drives for his nephews than shooting his own. Sam was known to his nieces and nephews as "Uncle Kit-Kat" for obvious reasons.  He was a people person who loved talking to anybody and everybody that would listen.  Sam will be truly missed by his family and his friends.

Survivors include his parents, Denis and Emily Schneider of Meire Grove; brothers and sisters, Lila (Carl) Granby of Staples, Doug (Colleen) Schneider of Garfield, Tom (Kim) Schneider of Sauk Centre, Marv (Karen) Schneider of Sauk Centre, Shirley (Tom) Galligan of St. Cloud, Roger (Lori) Schneider of Albany, and Rachel Schneider of Monticello; 12 nieces and nephews; and many loving relatives and friends.

Sam was preceded in death by his grandparents, George and Tillie Schneider and Henry and Anna Arnzen.

To the Schneider family, my deepest sympathy for the passing of Sam. Sam was a one of a kind, I will always remember his contagious smile, his sense of humor and his laugh. I worked with Sam at Specialty Turf years ago and first thing every morning he would always come in the office "Good morning what's the good word for today" would be his greeting. Sam will be missed by many.
