Valerian Schwinghammer Obituary
Avon - Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 AM on Monday, January 29, 2018 at Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Albany for Valerian "Chub" Anthony Schwinghammer, age 88 of Avon who died on Thursday, January 25, 2018. Rev. Julius Beckermann will officiate and entombment will be in Seven Dolors Parish Mausoleum. Friends and relatives may call from 4-8 PM on Sunday, January 28, 2018 and also one hour prior to the services on Monday all at the church. Seven Dolors parish prayers will be at 4:00 PM on Sunday. Arrangements have been entrusted to Williams Dingmann Funeral Home in Avon.
Chub was born July 20, 1929 in Albany, Minnesota to Joseph and Katherine (Feneis) Schwinghammer. Chub married Estelle (Thelen) on August 26, 1950 at St. Martin Catholic Church in St. Martin. Chub farmed in the Albany area on the family's century farm. Chub also was employed as a machinist with the Wyman Corporation in St. Cloud for 15 years retiring in 1995. Chub was a member of Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Albany and the Catholic Aid Association. Chub enjoyed buying and restoring repairable cars, dancing and the theatre. His wife, Estelle and family were his number one priority. Chub and Estelle traveled extensively. Chub loved Two River Lake and socializing driving his golf cart throughout the neighborhood. "Life is Good."
Chub is survived by his wife of 67 years, Estelle; children, Sherry Frederick of St. Louis Park, daughter-in-law, Anita Schwinghammer of Grey Eagle, Judy (Mark) Gileczek of Bloomington, Connie Larson of Oak Grove, Jackie (Ed) Atkinson of Freeport and Larry (Shelly) of Albany; 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Randy in 2016; brothers, Al, Gene, Louie, Ed and Joe; sisters, Minnie Blenker, Aggie Lindberg, Martz Schiffler and Millie Heinen.

01/27/18 Enjoying Life with Uncle Chubby:
The Bucket List
I'd say Uncle Chubby lived the bucket list his whole life from being a family man to farming, recreation (the Two River Project), & investing wisely.
As a child he enjoyed riding along with my Dad, Eugene, as he did his weekly runs to the Twin Cities hauling cattle down & returning with freight to make my trips count as my Dad would say.
I remember crossing little puddles of water after a good rain on the home farm & watching the tadpoles swim through the water. I remember natural springs of water on the home farm. I remember the beautiful grapevine arch in the backyard. I remember Aunt Estelle making snowsuits for the whole family one winter. I remember the wonderful family gatherings on the home farm.
Our Marion, Mt Property
We began moving in 2009 shortly after we purchased our 60-acre, heavily-wooded parcel. We have seen deer, elk, grizzly bear, crows, ravens, Blue Jays, wild turkeys, & lots of animal tracks. You could call my Tom Dr. Doo Little as when he whistles the deer come running. Yes, we feed our visitors multi-grain with molasses & keep a mineral & salt block nearby for them. They are vegetarian you know so they get lots of apples, bread, bananas, & greens. They even roam the streets of Kalispell mostly in the outlying areas so you really have to watch where you're driving, also along the highways. We have natural springs on our property so they have plenty water to drink.
Our Marion Cabin
Here you can get frostbite & a sunburn all in the same day in the wintertime. Flathead Valley is known as a banana belt region as it gets only about 3 of snow a year & usually melts the same day. The temperature varies from 20 to 50 degrees in one wintry day.
Marion's population is under 1,000 & we live close to Mike Marker 101 off Hwy 2, a very curvy, windy, hilly, e-ticket ride & adventure.
We love it here along with the wildlife near Glacier National Park: skunk, bobcat, cougar, pheasant, morning doves, cardinals, squirrels, mice, rabbit, opossum
