Alvin Goodhue Obituary

Alvin Eugene GOODHUE Alvin Goodhue, 74, of Auburn, WA passed away peacefully on Saturday morning, May 28, 2011. He was born December 25, 1936 in Yakima, WA to Ernest and Merle Goodhue. At 16, he entered the work force and spent his entire career as a Bricklayer. In April 1959, Alvin met his soul mate and love of his life, Shirley Walker. After a short courtship, they were married July 19, 1959 and spent the next 52 years happily married and had a wonderful journey together. They moved to Auburn in 1983 and have developed many special friendships over the years. Alvin was an avid fisherman, spending many hours in the Green River or on a nearby lake. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially with the senior group at Northwest Family Church. He was a loving and faithful husband, caring father and a hardworking gentleman who will be missed. During the past few years he battled many ailments, including prostate and bladder cancer in addition to Alzheimer disease. Alvin's family would like to thank all the loving people at A Serenity Adult group home, Auburn Senior Center Respite Care and Providence Hospice for their gentle care of our beloved in his final days with us. A devoted family man, Alvin is survived by his loving wife, Shirley, their two sons, Philip (Kelly) and Mark, their daughter Linda (Mike) Gates, his sister Eleanor (Elmer) Lewis and brother Ernie (Linda) Goodhue and many other cherished family members. He also has five grandchildren and one great-granddaughter due in June. Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 7, 2011 from 2:00-7:00 PM at Yahn & Son Funeral Home in Auburn and Wednesday at 11:00 AM till service time at the church. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, June 8th at 1:00 PM at Northwest Family Church in Auburn. Please visit yahnandson.com to leave a tribute or memory of Al.
