Antonio DEL FIERRO Obituary

Antonio L. DEL FIERRO

Tony del Fierro passed away in peace on January 7. He was born in 1933 in Manila, Philippines and moved to Seattle as a young adult to attend college and build his future. He was a trailblazer, entrepreneur, restaurateur, hotelier, banker, international business-man, and civic leader. His passion, energy, work ethic and demand for perfection was unparalleled and his legacy will live on in the many lives of those he touched, influenced and mentored.

Tony, nephew of the late President of the Philippines, Ramón del Fierro Magsaysay was married to Presentacion"Presie" Baldoz del Fierro for 56 years; she preceded him in death in 2011. He is survived by his children Lew, Jana, and Tony Jr., daughters-in-law Marivel and Sally, son-in-law Jeff Peterson, grandchildren Carlos, A.J., Therese, Valerie, Antonio, Morgan and Marc.

With determination, fearlessness and hard work, he built a successful career as a hotel and restaurant owner including The Roosevelt and Sorrento Hotels and restaurants Top 'O The Town, Casa Filipina, and Sebastian's Seafood Restaurants among many others. He was an independent hotel and restaurant management consultant and founded Sebastian's Inc., specializing in hospitality and retail at 15 world expositions including Seattle (1962), New York (1964-65), Montreal (1967), Texas (1968), Osaka (1970), Spokane (1974), Okinawa (1975), Knoxville (1982), Munich (1983), New Orleans (1984), Tsukuba (1985), Vancouver, BC (1986), Brisbane (1988), Seville (1992), and AmeriFlora (1992).

He graduated from Seattle Pacific University and served on the Board of Directors of Liberty Bank of Seattle from 1975 to 1981. He was active in The Lions Club and was a devout Catholic serving his church and the community as a sacristan and Eucharistic minister for many years.

One of his greatest joys was hosting events and family gatherings at his 2-acre, 22-room Moorish mansion known as the "del Fierro Castle" and located on Redondo Beach, WA.

A memorial service mass will be held on Thursday, January 23, at 11:00 am at St. Luke Parish, 322 N 175th St, Shoreline, WA 98133. A luncheon reception will immediately follow.

To the Del Fierro family,
I met Tony at the Scribner Kidney Center last May. My father in-law sat in the chair next to him. I looked forward to seeing your father each week when I came to visit my father in-law. Even though I only new your father a short time, I will always treasure the conversations and laughter we shared. Your father was a very kind and caring man. I will truly miss seeing him. My thoughts and prayers are with and your families.
