A great classmate and awesome room-mate at WSU. We enjoyed good times at Chinook Village as study buddies and solid friends. I am blessed to hold many memories from 24 years ago. Leah and Nelson deserve the extended support we offer. I hope that time is a counselor and faith will provide the wisdom to understand the rare gifts Dan shared with us. Very special Man....

I was blessed to visit with Dan and his family in the early Fall a month or so after his diagnosis. We had a wonderful meal that went on for hours talking about life, family, love and the great beyond. Just sitting next to Moonie old stories from Curtis, the college years and even the early "grown up" years started to fall out of our mouths. We laughed and laughed and jostled memories free that neither of us had danced with in decades. Dan was as sweet, funny, warm and genuine as I'd remembered and I came away from the evening rejuvenated even though I was prepared for the fact it may be the last time I would hear his laugh...it was. We exchanged emails up until a couple weeks before his passing and I admired his positive attitude and courage in the face of the inevitable. I knew he was comfortably in the bosom of his family and would soon be in a better place. Of course, the news of his passing fills me with sorrow and a surprisingly deep sense of loss considering I didn't get to see that much of Dan in recent years - but that's the kind of vacuum created when a great spirit like Moonie moves on. I wish Leah and Nelson the best during this difficult time, I mourn your loss and and thank you again for the gift of one last sweet evening with Dan and his loving family.

It was my pleasure to get to know Dan and the Moon family before he was diagnosed. His spirit and generosity was amazing and continued until the end. These are the things that stood out, but it is clear his legacy of generosity DEFINITELY lives on in Nelson. My prayers are with the Moon family.

Spent an evening with Dan and his family this summer and he had no idea he was sick. I am so glad we reconnected but am so sorry that we won't have more wonderful get-togethers. I have such fun memories of Dan on youth group retreats and in French class. He and his family lived on our street. My love goes out to all of his family, especially Leah and Nelson.

I went to High School with Dan (called him Moonie then) and just loved him so much! I had no idea he was even sick and am deeply saddened to hear of his passing. We talked of getting together at our 20th reunion and just never got around to it.........
