David Franco Obituary

David M. FRANCO David M. Franco passed away unexpectedly on October 6, 2009. He was born on July 18, 1936 in California to Maurice and Ventura Franco. He is survived by his loving mother Ventura Franco Israel and sister Rita Franco Peha, his niece Donna Salomon (Kirk), nephew Joseph McGaffey (Rachel), three great nieces, Morgan Salomon, Chloe and Jasmyn McGaffey and one great nephew Justin Salomon. He was loved by many friends and family and will be truly missed by all. David retired after 38 years with United Parcel Service. Among his passions was to vacation in Mazatlan with family and friends. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 8th at 1:00 p.m. at the Sephardic Brotherhood Cemetery, 1230 North 167th St., Shoreline, WA 98133 Donations can be made to the Congregation Ezra Bessaroth at 5217 So. Brandon St., Seattle, WA 98118 or Medic One.

Being Larry Jaffe's "kid" brother, I had always looked up to my brother and his "cool" friends. "Frankie" was one of the "coolest" I didn't get to really know him well until I got older and would bump into him at the 13 Coins or the old Trader Vics. He was one of the funniest guys I ever met. His infectious smile along with some of his stories had me in stitches. But most of all, his warmth and acceptance of Jaffe's "kid" brother made me feel like "one of the guys". I will never forget that. "Thanks Dave. I will miss you".

We were deeply saddended to hear the news. Dave Franco was known in our circle of friends as, "The Frankie." In the early 90's we hung together and ran the streets often but always ended-up every night at 'The Coins.' Never without a smile or supportive comment, The Frankie was a true prince. Travel well my friend.

I didn't know Dave as well as many of you folks. We socialized occasionally in the late sixties and beyond when we were both living at the Shangri-La apartments on Lake Washington. I would like to say though that Dave was always upbeat, humble and an incredibly nice person. I know he will be missed by many.

To The Franco Family,

I too worked with Dave at UPS for many years. He was a wonderful guy.... always energetic, always upbeat .... and always wearing that great smile.

When I first learned of Dave's passing; I initially thought our lives won't be as bright without him. But on reflection, heaven will be a lot brighter with Dave's arrival.

Sorry for your loss Rita and family. David was a gentle man, eternally youthful and was a walking encyclopedia of anything to do with sports. I'm so glad I got to know him and considered him my friend.

I remember Dave from my first day of work at UPS in February of 1969. He was always helpful and friendly to me, a rookie UPSer. Over the years at UPS - I was there for 33 years - Dave and I chatted often. I think we both became fixtures there and never a cross word between us. I lost touch with him after he retired but will always remember him for his persistent friendliness and good cheer. RIP, Dave. . .

I inherited David as a customer when I started as a bartender at the 13 coins more than 27 years ago.For more than 24 years that I was there, I saw David most every day that I worked.I got to know him well.David had a good heart and made many friends. He will be missed.I am sorry that I missed his service,I would have been there but I just learned of his passing at 7:30 pm when I recieved a phone call. It was really a shock, he looked to be in very good health when last we met. you have my,condolences, sorry for your loss. Joseph Santilli

I'm a retired Upser and was a friend to Dave, still saw him often at the Georgetown Post office picking up his mail, he looked good never seeming to age. Dave never failed to strike up a good conversation with my husband. Our Condolences during your hours of bereavement.
