Erik Anderson Obituary

Erik J. C. Anderson

January 11, 1984 ~ June 20, 2016

Erik John Carlock Anderson, 32, died early Monday at his Seattle home. Erik was born in Singapore on January 11, 1984, but spent most of his life in Seattle WA. He graduated in 2002 from Chief Sealth High School, where he met his wife-to-be, Kim Chan. Erik earned an associate of arts degree from Highline Community College before he started his career in information technology. He was employed by Avenade Inc.

Erik was a fixture in the Seattle music scene, where he was known as "DJ Beefer." Beginning when he was 18, he played Euro-trance dance music at clubs throughout the Northwest, and occasionally traveled as far as Alaska, San Francisco and Las Vegas to perform.

He served on the board of directors of the Snoqualmie Falls Forest Theater, where he spent many summer weekends and devoted time to other volunteer causes. He loved sports, especially Seattle Seahawks football and Seattle Mariners baseball, and enjoyed trap and skeet shooting and duck hunting. He loved spending time with friends and family and was a devoted parent to his two dogs, Brady and Bree, and two cats, Charlie and Tim.

Erik is survived by his wife, Kim Chan; his mother, Linda Carlock, of Seattle; his father, John Gottberg Anderson, of Bend, Ore.; two aunts, Gloria Carlock of Seattle and Lisa Neel of Eugene, Ore.; an uncle, Fred Anderson of Takarazuka, Japan; five first cousins, multiple 2nd and 3rd cousins, and his two dogs and two cats. He was preceded in death by his four grandparents.

A private gathering of family and close friends will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his name to the Snoqualmie Falls Forest Theater, PO Box 249, Fall City WA 98024; www.foresttheater.org.

May God's loving-kindness and comfort help you and your family through this very sad time. Psalm 29:11.

What a thoughtful description of a remarkable young man. Hopefully the incredible sadness of this much too early passing will be softened with fond memories of Erik's years as a valued member in my classroom at West Seattle Montessori School.

May the love of family and friends carry all those morning the loss of Erik through their grief. Keep your hearts filled with wonderful memories of joyful times together as you celebrate Erik's well lived life.
