May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.
I did not know Jan personally, but followed her life and path. It is with great sadness that she was taken away from you all too soon. May her memory be that she mattered, was deeply loved and cared for. Love abounds forever. Rest easy dear friend, God has you now.

I think of her often, and everytime I see a story with Barry Peterson. She was a bright light turned brutally off by one bad gene.

Jan was a light that glowed sometimes softly, sometimes brightly. She made our lives shine by just being in our world.

While we never dated, Jan was one of my best friends in Jr and Sr High School. We stuck each others fingers to check blood types for biology class, I decorated her lunch bags, and presented her with certificates for touchdowns she asked me to score (so long ago when I was an athlete). We saved a page for each other in our annuals. I was terribly saddened when I heard of the Alzheimer's diagnosis, less so by the news of her death. Knowing her when she was well helps me to understand and sympathize with the wrenching loss her loved ones suffered

I am in stunned shock and saddness at your passing. I was a good friend of your brother, Jeff. I walked you to Factoria Elementary School when you were in second grade. I played basketball with Doug, Tom O'Leary, and your Dad in your driveway. Your mother was a big influence on my life. And, as you mother knew, you were my very first "crush." I will remember you riding the flying red horse at the Woodridge Carnival, playing "horses" in your front yard, and riding down to the Factoria store on the back of my bike when you were in seventh grade. The few photos of you that I have I will continue to treasure. Like before, I will continue to think about you everytime I visit the neighborhood where we both grew up.

Jan, we will always remember the many good time we had with you in London, Tokyo and Seattle. Even with memory loss, you kept your sense of humor and vibrant personality. Love from Chaz, Amy, Max and Jasper Bickers

Jan & I went through multiple years of school together, then went our ways. We touched base only a few times after that. One memorable time was when 2 other school friends and I visited Jan and Barry inTokyo -- so fun to reconnect after all those years! And especially to see Jan and Barry's 'exotic' overseas life! (Not to mention that it happened to be a day or so after the 'black Friday stock market crash in the late '80s -- so Barry had to give a broadcast while we were there --very fun to observe from the hallway.). I was so saddened to hear about the Alzheimer's. Jan was so lucky to have you, Barry, and family, who stuck with her. Such a sad end for such a bright star.

My heart goes out to Jan's family and friends. I graduated from Newport with Jan in 1967 and really thought she was someone special, smart, beautiful and very kind to all.

We are so sorry for your loss. It was an honor to have worked with Jan. She will be remembered as the beautiful person she was, not the terrible disease that took her too soon.

Although I did not personally know Jan, I well remember her work at KIRO-TV. I am so sorry to learn of her passing. Praying for your family in your grief and sorrow...
