John Isaksen Obituary
John went home to the Lord on April 15, 2013. He passed after living a great life of 87 years. John was born on October 25, 1925 in Port Townsend, Washington. His adoptive parents were Peter Andruus Isaacson and Mary Agnes Kelly "Hazel." He was preceded in death by his parents, his half-brother Russell Metler, and daughter Patty Hively. John attended both Sacred Heart School and Seattle Preparatory School, graduating in 1944.
John was a World War II Army veteran, assigned to the 600th Bomber squadron of the 398th Heavy Bomb Group as a Ball Turret Gunner. Honorably discharged in June of 1946, he returned home to Seattle and earned a Bachelor of Commercial Science Degree from Seattle University in 1950.
He met the love of his life, Patricia, in Seattle, and they were married April 24, 1954. They had seven children; he is survived by John Jr. "Giovanni", Peter (Tania), Katy Brown (Linden), Phil, Tom (Valerie) and Andy (Arlene). John is also survived by his nine loving grandchildren, as well as his sister Theresa Bournique (Gene) and numerous nieces, nephews and their kids.
John enjoyed a 35 1/2 year career at Boeing which included working in the Seattle area, Pennsylvania, and Seville, Spain. His many interests included golf, skiing, fishing and traveling with his family and friends. John and Pat were members of St. Louise Parish in Bellevue since 1966.
A Rosary service will be held at the Sunset Hills Funeral Home, 1215 145th PL SE, Bellevue WA, on Wednesday, April 24th, at 7 PM.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Louise Catholic Church (141- 156th AVE SE) Thursday, April 25, 2013 at 11 AM. A reception will follow in the church hall.
John was an ardent supporter of the St. Vincent De Paul Society. The family suggests that remembrances be sent to the St. Vincent De Paul society chapter at the church. Please visit www.sunsethillsfuneralhome.com for a full obituary.
