When we moved back to Seattle in early 1988, we saw Dr. Anderson for my son, just three years old, who was different. I had been termed a hysterical first time mother by all doctors, including many experts in both New York City and Seattle, but I had enough baby sitting experience to know something was off.
Dr. Anderson came to me after the first treatment and said in his calm manner, "Let's talk about your son. He won't look or talk to me but he can read the message on the balloon out loud." It was through his intervention that all the right doors opened and my son was admitted to the Experimental Education Unit of the University of Washington's Child Developmental Center.
This was all pre-Asperger's syndrome diagnosis but that was clearly what he had. High intellectual ability with little social aptitude for those outside the home. The early intervention at the UW worked wonders for him and he was able to go through an honors program in high school and graduate from college and receive a master's degree. He has a good job and a good life and copes well with his disability.
I remember feeling so helpless and lost that none of the authorities would listen to me. Dr. Anderson, in his quiet, kind way, opened the doors and made all the difference for him.
When I expressed my thanks to Dr. Anderson, he said, "We like to look at the whole child."
Thank you for a life well lived.

Marc was a very kind, caring dentist to our son Paul. We will always remember how carefully he cared for him thru many tooth extractions.
After getting to know the dentist Marc, he became the friend, Marc to our family. He will be missed. We feel blessed we had the chance to know him. May he rest in peace.
Big hugs to his wife and family.
