Michael Stephen Hlastala

Michael Stephen HLASTALA Born February 8, 1919 in Uniontown, PA. as one of six siblings. Died November 3, 2003 in Seattle, WA. Beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, he was preceded in death by his wife, Anne, two brothers, Stephen and Joseph, and son, Peter A. He is survived by his two sisters, Ann and Elizabeth and one brother, Rudolph, his two sons, Michael P. and Stephen J.; two daughters-in-law, Margaret A. and Karen; two grandchildren, Michael A. and Stefanie A., and one great-grandchild, M. Jonah. He served in the US Army Air Corps in Europe during World War II. After attending college at the University of Idaho, he was employed as a mechanical engineer at the Boeing Co. until his retirement in 1986. He was a member and past president of the Ballard Kiwannis Club. As a Boy Scout leader, he was awarded the Silver Beaver Award for his leadership. He will be remembered for his sense of humor and his kind and gentle nature. A Memorial Service will be held at Calvary Lutheran Church, 7002 - 23rd Ave. N.W., Seattle, WA. at 2 p.m., Saturday, December 6, 2003.
