Myly Uyen-Tien Do Vu

Myly Vu Obituary

Myly Uyen-Tien Do VU Myly Uyen-Tien Do Vu, 45, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 7th, after a long and courageous battle with cancer, in Kirkland, WA. She is survived by her husband of 23 years, Jack Quang-Dung Vu, and 18 year-old son, Derrick Quang-Khoi Vu. Her final days were spent surrounded by the family and friends whom Myly touched in every way throughout her remarkable and memorable life. Myly was born January 29, 1965, in Saigon, Vietnam, to Nho Huu and Kim Nhung Do. They left Vietnam as refugees in 1975 and settled in Spokane, WA. Myly spent her adolescent years growing up with her family in the beautiful Spokane Valley. Their early days as newcomers to the United States yielded cherished memories of the generosity of the American people who embraced them. She graduated from University High School in 1983. She attended the University of Washington in Seattle, where she met and married her best friend and partner for life, Jack Quang-Dung Vu. After Myly earned her Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, she and Jack settled in the Seattle area, and she joined The Boeing Company as a design engineer. She moved on to become a high-level consultant for Boeing while working initially for Tectura and later SeaTec, as Senior Systems Engineer and Business Analyst. Myly loved her work - she devoted over 20 years of her expertise in avionics, information technology, airline technical operations and maintenance, and new business development. Her success was a direct result of her strong work ethic, natural engineering talent, and her remarkable ability to bring people together to ensure success. Among her favorite pastimes were cooking and traveling the world. Myly's ultimate joy, however, was being a loving wife and devoted mother, spending time with the jewels of her life, Jack and Derrick. She also devoted much of her time and energy to her extended family, and had a smile that could light up a room. Myly was humble and selfless. She always found the good in every person she met along the way. Myly is also survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Nho Huu and Kim Nhung Do; parents-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Han Quang Vu; sisters, Aimee Giang Tien, Gigi Diem Uyen, Julie Thuc Uyen; brother, Avril Vietnam; many brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews; and her many friends. Finally, the Vu Family would like to thank Dr. E. Ellis and her staff for their tireless efforts and the utmost compassion in caring for Myly throughout this journey. There will be a public viewing for friends and family at the Evergreen Washelli Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 11th, from 3-7 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 12th at the Evergreen Washelli Funeral Home beginning at 9 a.m., with the procession to the cemetery to immediately follow. Myly will be interred at the Snoqualmie Estates Cemetery in the Vu family plot. Floral tributes may be sent to Evergreen Washelli Funeral Home, 11111 Aurora Ave. North, Seattle, WA 98133. It is with great sadness to learn of Uyen-Tien's passing. Uyen Tien and I were friends during college as we were both members of the UW VN Assos. I still have Tien's picture in my album from those days. I remembered Tien as being very gentle, soft-spoken and kind. I am very sorry for her loss.

This weekend will be very bittersweet without you, Sis. Although it will be one of the happiest moments of my life, there is still a huge piece missing since you wont be near. However, I have the next best thing; your baby boy right next to me throughout the whole day. I know you'll be there in spirit and smiling down on us. Love you forever.

I first met Myly while working on the 777 program at Boeing. We were working on the Airborne Vibration Monitoring System together. I was validating procedures for Maintenance Engineering and she represented Everett engineering. I'll never forget when they took the airplane up to takeoff thrust while chalked to the ground and the airplane was jumping around trying to break free. I remember Myly and my eyes got a lot bigger while we went for this wild ride. I then ran into Myly again when she was working for Tectura. She greeted me as if we were old friends with the all familiar glowing smile and warm and approachable demeanor. I have run across her many times over the years and will miss her very much. I only wish I would have met her while we were going to UW together (I was in Mechanical Engineering).

Jack and Derrick,

I only knew Myly for a short time at Boeing, but I was so impressed with her spirit and positiveness. Her attitude could light up a room, no matter the circumstances. She will be missed by so many; and their thoughts are with you and yours.

Annabel Lee

It was many and many a year ago,
In a kingdom by the sea,
That a maiden there lived whom you may know
By the name of ANNABEL LEE;
And this maiden she lived with no other thought
Than to love and be loved by me.

I was a child and she was a child,
In this kingdom by the sea;
But we loved with a love that was more than love-
I and my Annabel Lee;
With a love that the winged seraphs of heaven
Coveted her and me.

And this was the reason that, long ago,
In this kingdom by the sea,
A wind blew out of a cloud, chilling
My beautiful Annabel Lee;
So that her highborn kinsman came
And bore her away from me,
To shut her up in a sepulchre
In this kingdom by the sea.

The angels, not half so happy in heaven,
Went envying her and me-
Yes!- that was the reason (as all men know,
In this kingdom by the sea)
That the wind came out of the cloud by night,
Chilling and killing my Annabel Lee.

But our love it was stronger by far than the love
Of those who were older than we-
Of many far wiser than we-
And neither the angels in heaven above,
Nor the demons down under the sea,
Can ever dissever my soul from the soul
Of the beautiful Annabel Lee.

For the moon never beams without bringing me dreams
Of the beautiful Annabel Lee;
And the stars never rise but I feel the bright eyes
Of the beautiful Annabel Lee;
And so, all the night-tide, I lie down by the side
Of my darling- my darling- my life and my bride,
In the sepulchre there by the sea,
In her tomb by the sounding sea.

My deepest sympathies to Jack and Derrick and to all of Myly's family and friends who are feeling this profound loss. She was not only a wife and mother, but a friend to all who's lives she touched. I have worked with Myly off and on for 15 years and just always assumed I would work with her again. I loved her smile and her wit. I loved her dedication and passion. I loved her. She was an amazing, caring, thoughtful person and I will always, always treasure the memories that I have with her. I am honored and blessed to have worked with her and am truly a better person for having known her. She will be deeply missed.

A message of thanks --- The Do and Vu families would like to add this message of thanks to all of Myly's many friends and colleagues who -- in this online forum or otherwise -- sent messages of condolences and prayers, and shared precious memories, during this difficult time. Your tremendous outpouring of support has eased the burden on our hearts, and we appreciate it deeply. Blessings to you all.

To Myly's family:

She was my best friend at Bowdish Jr. High and through U-high. We went to U of W together, but our paths diverged and I lost touch with her by graduation. She was a wonderful, beautiful soul who always had a kind word. She brightened my life immeasurably and I am profoundly sorry for this loss.

My deepest sympathies and God's blessings on Myly's family.

As others who had the pleasure to work with her at the Boeing Company, my experience with Myly was marked by her kindness, humor, expertise, persistence and disarming smile. Myly always seemed to make things happen with amazing ease. She provided me with both professional and personal advise that I carry with me to this day, and was known by all for her thoughtful and always too generous gift giving. Myly, we will miss you.

My condolences to Jack, Derrick, and family.

I only knew Myly for a few short months. I was new to the group and she took me under her wing to help me navigate in the new environment I was in. I was impressed with her knowledge and work ethic, but mostly her caring ways. When she came to work in the mornings she would always peek her head into my cube, wish me good morning and ask how things were going. If I said anything other than "fine", she wanted to know how she could help. I'm still in shock because I had no clue she was sick and had not seen her for a couple of weeks when I heard of her passing. Everywhere I went that day at work there was sadness and disbelief. I like to believe she was taken for a higher calling and I am just glad I got to be in her path while she was here on earth. I want her family to know what a significant impact she made where ever she went. God bless Myly and her family.

Myly,
you were a mother to us when it was needed, a sister to us as well. And during all of that you were a great friend. You will always be in our hearts.
Our condolences to Jack and Derrick, she was amazing.

My condolences to Myly's family. I was fortunate to work with Myly at Boeing, and occasionaly travelled with her while visiting customer airlines. A smile, enthusiasm and optimism were her trademarks. It was Myly who introduced me to durian. She will be missed.

I am sadden to hear of Myly's passing. My condolences to her family. I'm happy to have known her since the early 90s. We first met at Boeing and though we both had our career changes I would still see her on occasion and enjoy catching up. Myly was a person who one immediately liked. Her pleasant manner and radiant personality brought you in and within moments you'd be fast friends. Though I haven't seen her since last year, I'm sad to think I'll not see her again in this life. God Bless and keep you in His company.

I'd like to offer my condolences to Myly's family. I worked with Myly a long time ago at the Boeing Company. The one thing that stood out with her was her smile and her upbeat personality. I've been away from the company since 2003 and had no idea she was ill. She was a precious jewel as well. She will be missed.
