Spencer was one of the most amazing young men. He was a forever friend to my son Kyle. When they were younger we lived in the same neighborhood and they could ride bikes, play, hang out in the trailer and just be goofy boys. When we moved, although not far, but far enough when you can't drive, Spencer still found a way over, he showed up one day with a bike that ran on gas. If there was a way, Spencer would find it. We would see him from time to time over the years and most recently got to visit with him about his work in Alaska and travels. He loved it. It was so great to see him so happy. Over the years he always still had that smile and little laugh giggle, he could light up any room. It always touched my heart that although the boys went in different directions, they both admired each other enough to stay in touch, that says a lot about Spencer, he still always made time for his friends and didn't forget about them. As a friend he meant a lot to my son. He meant a lot to our family. We are blessed with all the great memories, our hearts will ache forever. Spencer graced us with his joy for life.
Those we love don't go away,
They walk beside us every day,
Unseen, unheard, but always near,
Still loved, still missed and very dear.

The world will miss his laugh, his joy, his gift for embracing the unexpected. He made me a better teacher and showed me so much about relating to teens. I can't thank him enough for that. Spencer made an impact on me for the rest of my life.
