Beverly Aileen Holloway May 26, 2007 - November 4, 2007 Passed away peacefully on November 4, 2007 in Burlingame, CA. She was born May 26, 1927 in San Francisco, the second daughter of William and Lillian McFarlane. Bev, along with sisters, Barbara, Dolores (dec.) and brothers, Bill Jr., Gerald and Ken grew up in Noe Valley. She attended Paul Revere Elementary, Girls High School and finally Polytechnic High School. As a teenager during World War II, she was introduced to Jim Holloway, by her sister Barbara and her fiancé Art who was serving with Jim in the US Navy. They married after a whirlwind romance and were together for over 60 years until Jim left us in 2005. While Jim was at sea, son Richard was born and after the war, Bev moved with Jim to his family home in Laurel, Mississippi where their son Donald was born. Shortly there afterwards, Bev and her family came home to the San Francisco Bay Area. After a brief time living in Richmond, the Holloways bought their first home in 1948 on Larch Avenue in South San Francisco where they raised their sons. In 1967, Bev and Jim moved to Valota Road in Redwood City where they lived out the rest of their years together. Bev loved her family and was very proud of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Rich and his wife Jaylene gave her granddaughter Marci and her husband Brian, grandson Kai and his wife Hanan and her great-grandchildren, twins Devin and Ethan and finally great-granddaughter, Amber. Her son Don left us several years ago but he and his wife Sandy gave her grandson James and granddaughter Julia. Don also gave her granddaughter Donielle. A gentle lady, Bev was respectful and kind, no matter who you were or where you came from. She was a happy woman who enjoyed her life, taking many trips with friends and family. From roller-skating with her sons to riding roller coasters with her grandchildren, she had a youthful spirit about her. Bev and Jim traveled much throughout their life to visit friends and family from Fresno to Florida. She was active in the Ladies Auxillary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, at one point president of the Post 1205 chapter. She was also a member of the Military Order of the Cootie as a Cootiette. In 1955 Bev went to work for Cadillac in San Francisco and in 1990 after 35 years, finally retired from Penske Cadillac in Menlo Park. Bev's hobbies included crocheting and jigsaw puzzles and she had a real talent for drawing. She loved trips to the beauty shop, any and all animals, cookbooks, cooking shows and scary movies. We will miss you Bev! A Viewing for friends and family will be at Crippen and Flynn Woodside Chapel, 400 Woodside Road, Redwood City on Wednesday, November 7th from 5-8pm. Interment will be at Los Gatos Memorial Park, 2255 Los Gatos/Almaden Rd., San Jose on Thursday November 8th at 11am. Donations may be made in Beverly's name to the Alzheimer's Association.
