David Jacobs Obituary

David Kimo Ipo Jacobs At the tender age of 32, left this world on December 27, 2008, after a two year courageous struggle with clear cell sarcoma. Born on November 29, 1976, Kimo grew up in Fremont where he attended Irvington High. Kimo was a brilliant illustrator and created works of art throughout his life. A gifted athlete, he played football, soccer, and was on the wrestling team. After high school, he continued to cultivate his love for his native Hawaiian heritage and began dancing at Na Mele Hula Ohana. He attended competitions both on the mainland and Hawaii, culminating in his participation at the 1997 Merrie Monarch Festival in Hilo, HI. While at Na Mele, Kimo met the person who would become his best friend & wife, Marcy. They married in 1998 at sunset in Kihei, Maui and lived in San Francisco. He began working as an appraiser and became an assistant manager at Hertz Equipment Rental in South City. While working, he attended SFSU where he earned his 3D animation certificate. In 2005, Kimo decided to pursue his other passion, automotive/ diesel technology, and moved to Phoenix to attend UTI. Continuing with his love for athletics, he became the tighthead prop for the Phoenix Rugby team. Three weeks prior to graduation, Kimo was diagnosed with cancer and faced the unwelcome prospect of a below knee amputation. Undaunted by this devastating news, Kimo forged ahead to complete his degree while beginning a 2 year struggle with clear cell sarcoma. Kimo relocated back to San Francisco to be near his ohana, who supported him throughout his fight. Before cancer took his mobility, Kimo loved playing rugby, working on muscle cars, following the All Blacks and the Raiders, body boarding and food appreciation. A big supporter of Hawaiiana, he attended many local events and instilled a quiet pride of his culture in those around him. Kimo is survived by his wife Marcy and their dog, Maluhia; his father Charles Kamuela Jacobs; his mother Paulette Ka'ala (Bill) Roberson, his sister Chasity Sisco (Joseph) Martinez and their children, Jack, Ki'ilani, & Shayla; and his brothers Mario Kamuela; Marcus (Reyna); and Jason (Summer). He will be missed by many ohana, both in CA and HI. A celebration of Kimo's life will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2009, at the Lifemark Center at Skylawn Memorial Park, Highway 92 at Skyline Blvd., San Mateo, CA 94402. Viewing begins at 9:00 a.m. with services starting at 10:30 a.m. Aloha attire requested. In keeping with Kimo's generous nature, the family requests a donation to a charity of your choice in lieu of flowers.

So much has changed yet so much remains the same...
While days have passed and long gone by missing you still makes me cry,
Your family is growing and it’s bittersweet just knowing ....
That your short life was your sacrifice... of leaving this world before your time!
So many major events you didn’t get to witness but glad you’re not knowing all about this COVID!
Sometimes I wish I could reach into heaven and hug you one more time .... but I know that’s only in my imagination and during dream time!
For what it’s worth your loved so much which brings out missing you just as such!

Forever a Legend who is one of a kind you simply can not be out of mind ... well at least that is within Mine...

I love you Kimo - the universe lost one of the best of mankind.

Yet thinking and remembering you ... Always ... Always ... Expands my heart ... Makes me realize that I need to do more... Not more sulking ... Not more why's ... Not more wandering in my mind.

I need to do things for others ... Give more ... Love others ... and not just my family or kids ... I need to be compassionate all the time. Empathetic towards all... I need to humble myself and find joy during the bad times.

I need to think of your smile more often to inspire me and to keep me motivated. Your wisdom and kindness needs to be shared with this world...

It's your type of loyal love that needs to flood into all humans ..

I love you. Many love you...
