Don Pitts Obituary

Don Pitts

San Francisco native, and Lincoln High School "Wall of Famer", (class of 1948), Don died on April 7th at age 90. Best known in the Bay Area as a radio and TV personality on KGO AM & FM and KGO TV in the 40's and 50's, he also acted as the Night Club and Hotel Editor and columnist for the S.F. Daily News. His signature jingle, "Don Pitts on the air, music, music everywhere" was well known to his music loving audiences. In 1965 he launched a new career in Hollywood as a talent agent specializing in voice-over talent. He represented the best of Film and TV stars and Animation talent, everyone from, Casey Kasem, Orson Welles, Wolfman Jack, Mel Blanc, to Gary Owens, Charles Nelson Reilly and the first lady of animation, June Foray. He was known to have represented every great voice talent Hollywood ever had. Don is survived by his wife of 58 years, Gail Foster Pitts, their son David Pitts, daughter Dina Carruthers and grandchildren, Kurt and Kenton Carruthers, and Cameron and Kylie Pitts.
A celebration of Don's life will be Sunday, May 6th at 2 PM at the Motion Picture and Television Fund (MPTF), Wasserman Campus, 23388 Mulholland Dr. Woodland Hills, CA. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Don's name to the MPTF, Palliative Care Unit
