Edgar Spiteri Obituary

Edgar Anthony Spiteri October 18,1931 (His Life) October 21, 2009 Born in Mosta, Malta. He celebrated his 78th Birthday with his loving family just this last Sunday. Edgar proudly immigrated to the United States in 1949 'for a better life'. Survived by his loving & devoted wife Mary of 53 years. Three children: Rosemarie Papadopoulos (Steve), Charles Spiteri (Kathy), Sam Spiteri (Gina). Seven grandchildren: Kimberly Phillips (Mike), Anthony Papadopoulos (Oliver), Jennifer Spiteri, Frank Spiteri, David Spiteri, Vanessa Spiteri (Adam), Sammy Spiteri and Three great-grandchildren: Jacob, Grady and Cody Phillips. Upon his arrival to the United States Edgar worked as a machinist, until he decided to buy his own service station and auto repair business in 1981. He then worked along with his sons Chuck and Sam until his retirement. He gave all his children speed shift lessons and made sure they could park without scraping the whitewalls. He loved playing cards and Ludo with his grandchildren and followed many of their activities. Most importantly, he instilled good family values in all of his children. In good times and in bad, Edgar always made sure that his family enjoyed their vacations on the water including Clear Lake and Shasta Lake. A very devout Catholic, Edgar will always be remembered as a very generous and unselfish man. Friends may visit on Sunday, October 25, 2009 beginning at 3:30 p.m. and also attend a Vigil at 4:30 p.m. at St. Mark's Catholic Church, 325 Marine View Avenue in Belmont.
