Edward Simons Obituary

Edward Warren Simons
02/01/1930 - 07/14/2024
Ed was a fifth-generation San Franciscan, the only child of Edward Widman Simons and Beatrice Josselyn Simons. He was born on February 1, 1930, at the old Franklin Hospital, built with bricks from his great-grandfather's Simons-Fouts Brick Co. He died on July 14, 2024, the devoted husband of 63 years of the late, Dolores Baglietto Simons. They had three sons, Mark, Alan and Neil; and seven grandchildren.
Ed was an alumnus of Lowell High School and also San Francisco State College, where he met Dolores. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean war and was also a life member of The Mechanics' Institute, The San Francisco Historical Society, and the Marine's Memorial Club. Ed was active in the 1960s and 1970s in Cub Scouts and Boy Scout activities in Mill Valley, where he also served as the President of the Mill Valley American Little League. Ed also enjoyed being a judge for SCCA car shows in the Bay Area. In later years, he volunteered for the Marin Literacy Program, the Blind and Vision Impaired of Marin, and for the Marin YMCA. He was also an active, long-time donor to the Marin Blood Bank. Ed's professional career was spent working with his father in their distinguished consulting engineering practice.
Ed and Dolores were avid travelers, primarily to the British Isles and Italy. His greatest joy was spending time with his wife and their children and their families.
He was laid to rest with an Honor Guard at the Golden Gate National Cemetery in San Bruno. Donations in his memory may be made to The Marin YMCA, to The San Francisco Historical Society, to The Lowell Alumni Association, or to The Alzheimer's Association.
Assisted by Monte's Chapel of the Hills, San Anselmo, Calif.
