Eileen Murphy Obituary
January 26, 1963 – December 2, 2021
Eileen passed away suddenly but peacefully at her home in San Francisco December 2, 2021. A native San Franciscan Eileen was the daughter of Eugene and Jean Murphy raised in the West Portal area of the city. She attended Notre Dame des Victoires Grammar School; a place that she loved and lifelong friendships began. She graduated from Saint Rose Academy in 1981. She went on earn a Bachelor's Degree in Education from Chico State University and a Masters Degree from the University of San Francisco. After graduation Eileen followed her passion for education. She held long time teaching positions at Holy Name and Sacred Heart Grammar Schools in San Francisco. Eventually Eileen held position of Principal of Sacred Heart working tirelessly to keep it open. Her final position in Education was as Principal of Saint Vincent de Paul in San Francisco. In between stints as principals, Eileen held various positions as an advocate for children's access to education. She was extremely proud of the work she did at The Basic Fund where she was the Executive Director. She loved being involved in education and she truly had a gift of communicating with children of all ages.
For many years Eileen cared for the love of her life, her husband Marvin Vigo. Marvin passed in January of 2019. As partners they had a zest for life. They enjoyed travel, exploring the food scene of the city, walks with their dogs and spending time with friends and family. Eileen held a special place in her heart for Marvin's daughter Jenny and her young family. Eileen was extremely loyal, maintaining lifelong connections with friends of all types and ages; she was happiest sharing stories and having a good laugh.
Eileen is preceded in death by her husband Marvin and her father Eugene. She is survived by her mother Jean, brother Michael (Elaine), sister Sheila (Roger Betta), brother Matthew (Kathleen) and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Notre Dame des Victoires Grammar School (659 Pine St. San Francisco CA 94108). An announcement regarding a service will be coming soon.

I'm so sorry to hear of Eileen's passing. I would see her some mornings years ago outside SH, always a smile on her face. Last time I saw her was at a SHCP fund raiser.
I will always remember her smile.

So sorry for your loss dear Eileen. Last time I saw her was about 15 years ago for Balboa one day and I recognized her by her laugh. I will never forget that laugh.
