With love and wishes that the Name Etta, be a blessing on the lips of all who loved her. And many thanks that the kindness she paid me (and the lessons given to me) when we worked together at The Rhode Island Foundation.

I remember one special day - when we were both working at the Rhode Island Foundation and needed to make a visit to a major donor located on Block Island. It was a Rocky Trip on the Ferry but somehow Etta was able to curl up on a bench and sleep through it all. We became good friends and I was later to visit her in San Francisco. I miss her wisdom and laughter to this day.

I found three photos of Etta from her Michigan days, but they are on my computer, and I can't figure out how to get them onto this page. If someone contacts me ([email protected]), I would be happy to share these. Two are formal poses that you may already have, but one is an informal small group shot from our volunteer days at Ypsilanti State Hospital.

This is so late, but I just came across Etta's obituary. I was her roommate at the University of Michigan, where we were both psych majors. She was a wonderful and special person, and I regret losing track of her all these years. I had the privilege of visiting her home in Detroit, so was able to meet her mother (and share grits for breakfast). I am Jewish, with very curly/kinky hair, and one of my fond/funny memories of her is when she would watch me try to comb my hair after a wash. She just sat there and laughed. We worked together on some CORE events. I'm so sad to find out about her death. I am pleased that she had children and grandchildren who, I hope, will follow in her footsteps. My sincere condolences to her family. I do have a couple of photos buried in my albums. I'll try to find them and add them to this site.

So sad to hear of her death. We were good friends when we worked together in Providence and for several years beyond. The world will be an emptier place in her absence. My sympathy to her daughters and son.

I am deeply saddened to hear of the passing of your mother. I am honored and blessed to have known her and worked for and with her in Washington, DC. Etta made a significant impact in the lives of the people she touched. She was kind, generous in spirit and a fighter for the right for a quality education for all children.I am honored and blessed to have known her. May God give her eternal rest.

I am deeply saddened to learn of Etta's death. She was a wonderful advocate for parents and children here in DC. I feel particularly honored to have known her. I hope that you find peace in the knowledge of how highly your mom was regarded.
