Evelyn Rey Obituary
December 18, 1924 - November 8, 2015
In the early morning hours of November 8, 2015, Evelyn passed away peacefully at home at the age of 90, surrounded by her loving family. Evelyn, who was a San Francisco native and resident of The City for nearly 60 years, graduated from St. Anne's elementary school and was in the first graduating class of Abraham Lincoln High School. After high school, she was employed by PG&E in San Francisco where she met her future husband Robert Thomas Rey.Evelyn was predeceased by her husband, with whom she was happily married for almost 60 years, and by her daughter Mary. She is survived by her two sisters Ann (Ed) Lizotte and Marti Aggeler, brothers Harold, Greg and George Aggeler, daughters Patricia Rey and Linda (Fabrizio) Della Corte and sons Robert and Thomas Rey, grandsons KeIlen and Ryan Rey as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Evelyn, who resided in the town of Sonoma for the last 32 years, will be remembered by all for her kindness and generosity towards others, and for her deep devotion to church and family. In her later years she found particular joy in her many walks around town, perusing the farmers markets and in volunteering as a coach for adults in the RCIA program at St. Francis Solano Catholic Church.
Her family would like to express particular gratitude to the healthcare professionals at Hospice by the Bay. They assisted Evelyn in countless ways to provide comfort and care in her time of need. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice by the Bay, 190 West Napa Street, Sonoma CA 95476 (707) 935-7504.
A visitation will take place at Duggan's Mission Chapel at 525 West Napa Street in Sonoma on Sunday, November 15 from 2:00-5:00 pm. with a recitation of the Rosary starting at 4:00 pm. A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Francis Solano Catholic Church in Sonoma on Monday, November 16 at 10:00 am. Interment at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon, California, will take place on Tuesday, November 17 at 1:30 pm.
