John Murtagh Obituary

John F. "Sean" Murtagh

April 22, 1958April 4, 2015

John, "Sean" Francis Murtagh, Died suddenly on April 4, 2015, age 56. Son of Mary and the Late John Joseph Murtagh, Beloved father to, Karina and Triana, beloved brother to, Ann Marie, Danny (Sandra), Jimmy, Brian (Kirsten), & Linda, beloved uncle to Christopher, Andrew, Sean, Aidan & Collin as well as a friend to all he met throughout the years. "Sean", as everyone knew him, was a very outgoing person with a presence that was always warm and welcoming. Everyone was either his friend or friend to be. He loved people, pets and the great outdoors and spent a lot of time fishing and diving in the ocean. He also loved the finer things in life and worked hard to achieve many of them over the years. He always had a smile for you, no matter who you were and was always expected to be that guy who dragged a stray pet or lost soul through the door along with him. You would always be surprised each time Sean arrived in a new car, truck, motorhome or motorcycle that he just had to have. If there was something new on the market, Sean had to have it, even if only for a while. When he bought a new toy, you know it had to be the most expensive one available with the latest gizmo's on it. He loved his work and took great pride in his craftsmanship on the job and always loved to make his project a show piece for all to look at, even if it was tucked away in a machine room where nobody goes. His warm loving nature and radiant personality will be dearly missed as well as all of the gifts and talents he brought to this world. To Fran & Matt, Thank you! Sean, as you go forward to meet those who have gone before you, Godspeed.

A memorial mass will be held for Sean in San Francisco on Saturday, April 25th, 2015 at 10AM at St. Brendan's Church located at 29 Rockaway Ave.

Sean and I met in Aptos Jr High and I'm pretty sure there are teachers that will never forget some of the activities that we were allegedly involved with. Sean was a good friend and even though I haven't seen him in years, I will miss him.

Sean and I dated while I was in high school...he was in the military. He was sweet, loving, and YES, would do anything for anyone who needed his help. Often, without a car, we walked most everywhere. Decades later we reconnected and I hired his daughters, Karina and Triana to party assist with me for a Santa's Workshop party. Sean, your smile always lit up a room, and now the stars are shining a bit brighter.
Hugs to the family and friends we knew >

I was shocked and saddened to hear of Sean's passing. We worked for the same property management team at 555 California in the 1990s, as well as discovered we grew up in the same SF neighborhood. It was fun to share stories of our youth in SF, as well as discover that we had mutual friends and adventures. Sean always had a sunny smile and happy outlook. My sincere condolences to his family and friends.
