Joseph W. Chait (70), son of the late Robert and Toby Chait, passed away at home on Monday, December 18th at 10:00pm surrounded by his loving family after a valiant 8 month battle with cancer.An avid fisherman, passionate skier, often competent golfer, and master margarita maker, Joey had a smile and laugh that could fill a room. A 43 year resident of Menlo Park, Joey was passionate about his business, having first partnered with his father and then his son, and loved nothing more than traveling the world with his beloved wife and true love.
A man who put family and true friendship above all else, his goal throughout treatment was "to inspire others". Inspire you did, Joey. You will be deeply missed, and wholeheartedly celebrated.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 47 years,Deborah, adoring children Marcus (Melissa), Jessica Sieck (Shawn) and the "lights of his life" Zoe (11), Brody (9), Stella (5) and Sophie (3).
A celebration of Joseph's life will take place at Peninsula Temple Beth El in San Mateo on Friday, January 12, 2018 at 10:00 AM.

Dear Chait family - I met Joey through the cafe that I worked at, as he was our landlord. I've never known such a caring and truly special landlord and person - he was kind, funny and spent hours respectfully listening to our team's ideas and working to make the cafe better. He was a joy to be around and to partner with. He will be greatly, greatly missed.

My memories of Joey go to our crazy basketball games at the Concordia Club, the freezing trips down the Trinity River, the sometimes hilarious banter back and forth on the email threads.
Joey was my friend and I will remember him and the good times we had.

Dear Family and Friends,
No words can truly express our grief and sadness other than we are with you now. Joey was a giant and filled so many of us with his generous and loving spirit, shared always with a joy that was his heart space. He will forever be missed by all who are blessed to have known him.
