March 31, 1929 - August 22, 2023
Our beloved Josephine Gagan Hardin (Joey), a native of San Francisco and a longtime resident of Marin County, passed away peacefully August 22nd. Joey was predeceased by her parents, Josephine Agnes Gagan (Klein) and Brian Eugene Gagan, her sister Patricia Gagan, her brother-in-law Jack Braswell, and her sister-in-law Lynn Gagan. Survivors include her sister Katharine Braswell and her brothers Brian Gagan and Fr. Charles Gagan, S.J. along with numerous nephews and nieces, grandnephews and grandnieces, and dear friends Mary Bersot and Jody Karutz.
Joey attended Star of the Sea Academy and San Francisco College for Women. After a successful business career as a trust officer at Wells Fargo Bank, Joey enjoyed traveling, volunteering, and her beloved bridge games with her many friends. Joey will be remembered for her sense of humor (even in difficult times) and her lifelong devotion to her Catholic faith. Sincere thanks to Heidi Rieser and the exceptional staff at the Tamalpais Health Center who provided care and kindness for our sister and friend. Services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, gifts in Joey's memory may be sent to Mission Dolores Academy, 3371 16th Street, San Francisco, CA 94114 or to the charity of your choice.
Mass of Christian Burial is 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 5, 2023 at St. Anselm Catholic Church, 97 Shady Lane, Ross, CA.
