Kate Talbot Obituary

Kate Talbot
June 20, 1941 - October 10, 2021
Kate Talbot died in style on October 10. Surrounded by loved ones and rocking an auburn Jane Fonda-esque wig, she looked death squarely in the eye with glamor and grit.
She was born in North East England. At age nineteen, flame-haired and flame-hearted, she emigrated west, naturally suited to the flamboyance and optimism of America. She forged a successful real estate business in Pacifica, and was awarded 'Realtor of the Year' many times. She was a member of the high-I.Q. society Mensa International, was an active member of American Atheists, and achieved the designation of Master Bridge Player. Over decades she graciously opened her home to a steady stream of overseas guests who enjoyed her legendary generosity and hospitality.
In 2001 she founded California Marriages. Her work as a wedding officiant lit her up, and delighted and inspired thousands of clients whose lives she touched through her words and presence.
Kate was diagnosed with cancer last summer. In the weeks leading up to her death, she was inundated with letters and good wishes that poured in from all corners of the globe. She died bathed in the grace of knowing she was deeply loved.
Kate is survived by her husband Ron Talbot, four children, eight grandchildren and a great grandchild.

Kate was truly the most beautiful woman to grace the bridge tables of our San Mateo games. She was a warm and generous soul, a wonderful bridge teacher, and devoted friend to many. Rest in peace sweet friend.

To Kate's family, I am Kate's friend. When I moved from the East coast to here about 10 years ago, the first person I met at the bridge club was Kate. She helped me quite a lot trying to get acquainted with nearby places. I am so sorry that I was not even aware that Kate was ill till after her passing, wished I could have at least come to your house to visit her. I am making a donation to the America Cancer Society in honor and memory of Kate. With sincere condolences and sympathy, Aster Wu
