Athough we have been apart for many years and kept in touch through mutual friends, we remember fondly those times spent in the Army in Germany and later when Kevin and Kathy were in NY. We will cherish the memories and offer our condolences to Kathy and the family.

My memories of Kevin all seem to involve either decadent meals or shopping for the aforesaid meals. Around Valentine's Day, he would
remind us to put in our order for corned beef for St. Patrick's Day. And he made sure that we ordered our Dungeness crab from the right place at Fisherman's Wharf for Christmas dinner. He told us where we could find the best ice cream cones in Paris on the Seine (they were good). He could always recommend a great bottle of wine at Trader Joe's for a bargain price.
We were invited to Sunday family dinner at the McTiernan house many times. This was the time and place where one could see that Kevin was indeed the King of his domain. Standing on the porch before we knocked on the door of the stately home on 12th and Lawton, we could hear Kevin's hearty laugh from inside the house. Upon entry, we were immediately placed under a spell by the seductive aroma of whatever culinary adventure Sean was busily preparing in the kitchen. Molly the St. Bernard would be lying on the living room rug, seemingly oblivious to the vociferous debate between Kevin and Megan over which cartoon from the most recent New Yorker magazine was the funniest.
Everyone eagerly anticipates each course when Sean McTiernan cooks, but no one seemed more proud or satisfied than Kevin. (Actually, I am certain that Kathy was equally as proud if not more, but her comportment is more reserved and circumspect). Kevin took it all in -
highlights of the previous week from Jay, Shannon, and Kathy, lively discussions of current events, and plans for the future. By the time we had dismantled and consumed the edible dessert art installation anchored in scoops of ice cream that Sean created for us, we were satiated. And for those few hours we spent in Kevin's domain, we had completely forgotten about all of the things waiting for us at home: piles of laundry, grocery lists, dishes, phone calls to return, and appointments to schedule.

Wonderful memories of an amazingly
energetic, fearless, fun-loving friend in San Francisco. That's you, Kevin.
