March 11, 1938 - September 29, 2019
Loretta Ann Reeves Keller (Lori) passed peacefully on September 29, 2019 at her home in Pleasanton, California. Lori was born in Massachusetts in March of 1938, educated in the Quincy, Massachusetts public school system and the Arcadia, California secondary system. She went on to earn a BA degree from Stanford University and a masters degree from George Washington University. Lori was involved with education throughout her life, teaching elementary school for many years. Her very favorite undertaking was serving as a docent at the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden in Washington D.C. (part of the Smithsonian Institution) for over 30 years. In the years since, she continued to pursue her passion for art and gardening, as well as education. Lori and her husband, Alan, moved to Pleasanton in 2013 to be closer to the entire surviving Keller family: her two sons (Rick of Palo Alto, and Carl of Danville), their wives (Beth and Krista) and her six grandchildren (Drew, Matthew, Katie, Morgan, Lindsay, and Grant). To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.

I sat next to Lori in high school French class. She mastered every lesson while I struggled with quickly understanding and speaking in conversational activities. I needed to continue taking French at Stanford to fulfill the language requirement there. At Christmas time one year a group of her friends went to her home in Arcadia to wrap Christmas packages. What fun. I learned a lot of gift wrapping techniques that day, ones I continue to use to this day. It always pleased me to know how much she knew about art from her years of being a docent at the Hirshhorn Art Museum. I think of Lori frequently, especially while wrapping gifts, trying to remember how to say something in French and when considering visiting an art museum, mostly now virtually. Lori was a dear friend.

It saddens me deeply to learn of the passing of dear Lori. We were friends starting at Arcadia High School, continuing through Stanford and the years beyond. I was so looking forward to being with her again at our 60th reunion. My heartfelt condolences to Alan, children and grandchildren.
