Marian Brooks Obituary

Marian Lucille Brooks

September 18, 1923-December 24, 2014

Marian Lucille Brooks passed away at the Vi in Palo Alto, at the age of 91, on December 24, 2014.
Born in Toledo Ohio, Marian was the youngest of three children. After graduating from Bowling Green University, Marian's adventurous spirit led her to California. She worked summertime's in Yosemite and the Tahoe Tavern during her early twenty's. Once settled in San Francisco, she accepted a job as a stewardess with Pan Am Airlines and traveled the world. Through these experiences Marian became a strong and independent woman.
Through mutual friends, Marian and Alanson L. Brooks were set up on a blind date, and eventually married. Together, with infinite love and care they raised three children; Geoffrey, Missy, and Peter.
When her three children reached the teenage years, Marian became a real estate agent. With true Marian flair, she managed to be a wonderfully successful realtor for over 25 years without interruption to her golf or tennis games. She even became the #1 agent in her office, several times over the course of her long and successful career.
After her husband Al passed away in 1995, Marian moved to Palm Desert where she lived a healthy and active outdoor life for ten years, adjusting quickly to independent living. She moved to the Vi when it first opened in 2005. Continuing to do things Marian's way, she felt her new residence was missing a little something. She spearheaded a campaign that led to the installation of the putting green that is there today. While at the Vi, she continued to play dominoes and bridge, in addition to being the only woman in the men's poker group.
Marian will be remembered as an incredible woman in countless ways. Her zest and love for life and people was radiantly apparent. She was always pleasantly engaging, whether it was being a devoted wife and mother; and industrious business woman; or her ubiquitous participation with her many hobbies, wonderful friends and adoring family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alanson L. Brooks. Marian is survived by her daughter, Missy Morris; her sons, Geoff and Peter Brooks; and her grandchildren, Ryan, K.C., and Erik Morris; and Taylor, Caslyn and Kenley Brooks.
A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at 3:30 PM at the Menlo Circus Club, 190 Park Lane in Atherton, CA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Lucille Packard Children's Hospital at Stanford.
