Mark Wilson Obituary
11/22/1962 - 12/21/2025
Mark Wilson passed away peacefully on December 21, 2025, at home surrounded by his family. Mark was born in Dayton, Ohio, and grew up in San Francisco. In his youth, he won many awards in karate and, while attending Washington High School in 1978, was an undefeated All-City Wrestling Champion.
As a young man, he worked at the Arguello Market deli, a neighborhood staple, before beginning his career in hospitality at City Nights Nightclub. He went on to become a manager and owner, eventually becoming a local fixture in San Francisco's bar and restaurant scene. He was the proud owner of Trax on Haight Street and 440 in the Castro. Mark was a generous, loyal, and loving person-a kind heart with a romantic soul-who was always ready to help others. He traveled extensively and held a special love for France and England.
He will be profoundly missed by his heartbroken family and the many friends he touched throughout the years. Predeceased by his beloved wife, Chantal, he is survived by his mother, Jan; siblings Stephen, Paul, and Teresa; niece Cherilyn; nephew Alec; aunt Pauline; sister-in-law Alicia; cousin Jessie; and partner Alise.
In Mark's honor, donations may be made to UCSF Cancer Research. Details for a celebration of his life will be shared at a later date.
