So sorry to hear this sad news of Mateo's passing. It was always a joy visiting with Andrew, Scott, and Mateo on Del Casa Drive - riding bikes through the neighborhood, playing pickup baseball games at the little league field, or spending the afternoon swimming at the Mill Valley Tennis Club. These are fond memories of which Mateo is a part.
Our condolences to you at this sad time.

Dear Hamill Family,
We were shocked and saddened by Matthew's loss. Matthew came to Swords to Plowshares to be a part of the Veterans Academy team in November of 2015. He was our Food Service Coordinator since then. He had an infectious smile and a great attitude. Matthew was a devoted and loyal employee covering every shift that we needed. I had the pleasure of being his supervisor. He was very well liked by the veterans that he served, and took pride in his service to them. Over the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays he was part of a very special team at the Veterans Academy cooking for days to provide holiday meals for all of our sites, around 500 plates. This picture was taken at our Veterans Day Pancake Social 2016. Matt will be forever missed by the staff and residents alike, and we will always have a place in our heart for him. If there is a service, we would be honored to join you.
We are very sorry for you loss.

Dear Catherine,Tim,Andrew and Scott
We are so very saddened to hear of the unexpected loss of darling Mateo. So very sad. To us he will always be the smiley little guy shrieking with laughter as his brothers spun him round and round on the swing.Even with too much time between our visits, you are considered extended family to us.
We hold you in our hearts and thoughts and send you our love.

Loosing Matty Boy cuts deep into my childhood. He occupies some of my earliest memories and hearing of this sad news brings waves of memories, flashes of neighborhood kids, elementary school, coming of age.
For me, Matt is remembered as an easygoing, loyal friend, quick to smile, unassuming, modest about his great athletic ability, just cruising along, a solid friend. I always admired that in him. We lost touch from those early days, but Matt left a mark on me that I have carried through life. I believe there is a bit of our childhood friends in all of us. I am lucky to carry some of Matt with me.
I am so sorry to hear of his passing. He will be missed. My thoughts are with his family and loved ones.

Tim & Catherine,
Matt taught me a powerful life lesson as a teacher and human being. After taking leave during his senior year under tough circumstances, his return for graduation showed us all what the human spirit is capable of. It was a powerful moment that I will never forget - and has served as a reminder that we must never lose faith in one's potential. At that time Matt also expressed his belief in me as a teacher/mentor - a truly affirming moment.
I recall Matt when I first met him - a younger, sometimes awkward adolescent with a warm smile that was his true nature.
I am deeply saddened by the news of Matt's passing. My thoughts are with you...
