Maura and Albert moved to South San Francisco in 1950 and lived in the Bay Area for 55 years. Since 2005 they have resided in Linda, CA. She was a member of several choral groups including the choirs at St. Veronica Parish, St. Bruno Catholic Church, and St. Augustine's Catholic Church as well as The Peninsula Choraliers, The Irish Choral Society and the San Francisco Bach Choir. Maura also served as Musician for the American Legion Auxiliary, Department of California. She passed her love of music and singing on to all of her children and grandchildren. Maura worked for United Air Lines at the Maintenance Base in San Bruno for 40 years retiring in 1992. Love and memories from Elizabeth in Tallaght

April 29, 2023

2023 Thinking again of Maura, and realizing that I have now reached and passed the age when she died - how the years fly past, but my memory of her warm welcome still remains vivid to me. Ar dheis De go raibh a anam dilis. (May her sweet soul be at God's right hand)

Soon after coming from Ireland, Maura became a member of St. John's choir at my church. I met her there in the choir. Her smiling Irish eyes and lilt of Irish laughter endeared her to me immediately. My twin Al was also a member of the choir. He and Maura were dating soon. Our family was delighted when they announced their engagement. The memories are wonderful.

Yes I too remember Maura visiting us in Tallaght - and her making the trip from Cork to Dublin and back in one evening, to us an unheard of long journey without sleeping over.
But I best got to know Maura when I stayed with her several times while at TA conferences in San Francisco. I remember her saying how much she loved to have relatives to stay - I'm married to her first cousin Tony Cleary - and she certainly gave me the warmest of welcomes. May she have the happiest of eternities, singing her heart out to praise the good Lord.
My thoughts and prayers are with all the family at this sad time.

I will always remember my Aunt Maura, from her Many visits "home" to Ireland, I was quite little the first visit but to this day many many years later I can still remember that first visit, I was then aged in or about 4 years which would set the date around 1957, and that and many visits which took place in the years that followed were always memorable. Her charm and quick wit, her way of getting's things done were the hallmark of her great personality and she had a my Grandmothers, (her Mom) soft and gentle way. Aunt Maura loved "Barry's (Irish) Tea" and indeed one of her recent requests was for me to dispatch a catering box of that Tea to her. We kept in contact more after my Mom Ann (her sister) passed away and I will miss that contact. I know Aunt Maura had a great faith and now enjoys the "reward ' for that . We will always remember her with Love.
