Michael P. Wilcox

Michael P. Wilcox, passed away on Sunday, June 28th, quietly in his home. He was a genuine, humorous, witty, loyal, patient, sincere, kind & loving Husband to Patricia Molloy Wilcox (deceased); Brother to Tadgh (deceased) & surviving sisters, Eileen McGing and Mary O'Sullivan; an Uncle, Cousin, and Friend to many. In addition, he was a dedicated member of the San Francisco Police Department for over 40 years with partner, Rich Leon.

Michael will be missed in our day-to-day lives, but will be deeply loved & remembered always.

Memorial Service is scheduled for Friday, July 17th, 2015, at 10:30 a.m. at Saint Francis Solano Church located at 469 3rd St W, Sonoma, CA.

Directly after the memorial service a reception and gathering will be held to share stories and memories of Michael with family and friends at the Depot Hotel Restaurant, 241 1st St W, Sonoma, CA. A light lunch will be provided.

The Depot Hotel is a nice establishment frequented by Mike and Patricia during their many years in Sonoma.

Remembering Mike. There was a handwritten pink telephone message slip in my box allegedly from the pastor, in the days when we had Office switchboard operators, that I did not leave enough in the Sunday collection plate. I just knew it came from Mike. Remembering a wonderful man today who made the world a brighter place.

I worked with Mike for many years. He was an extraordinary guy--a glint and smile in his eyes when happy and a glare when dealing with criminals. In all my years in the SFPD, I never heard a bad word about Mike. I so sorry for all of us that he's left.

When his name came across my desk this morning reminding me of his anniversary, it made me smile. He was a joy to be around and to work with. Insp. Wilcox is certainly missed. God Bless Mike Wilcox.

I first met Mike in the summer of 1967 while working at Park Station. Mike was walking the beat on Haight Street during The Summer of Love. Many years later we worked together in the Bureau. Mike was a consummate professional who took care of business. I dont ever remember him without a smile on his face when we crossed paths, the fact that my mom was born on the Old Sod certainly didnt hurt. The last time I saw Mike was in Sonoma and he was so happy in retirement. Your missed Mike and not forgotten. R.I.P. my friend.

Inspector Wilcox should be remembered as one of the great SFPD inspectors. He was always very helpful and hardworking. I always looked forward to going to his detail. He was so cheerful, told good jokes, had a nice smile. I will always miss him. My sympathy to Rich Leon and the family as you've lost a gem. I miss not having him around.
