Nancy Sullivan Obituary

Nancy Diane Sullivan, 79, of Sacramento, Calif., passed away March 4, 2023, at Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, N.C., after a brief illness.
Nancy was born in San Francisco on Oct. 23, 1943 to parents James B. Sullivan and Doris Fraser Nicol Sullivan.
Nancy attended Holy Name School in San Francisco and went on to graduate from Saint Rose Academy, San Francisco, in 1960.
For more than 40 years, Nancy worked in the health care field, after receiving her Registered Nurse and Bachelor of Science degrees in 1972. She later went on to earn two master's degrees and a Nurse Practitioner license.
Nancy founded and supervised the first Mendocino Coast Public Health Clinic and then became the program developer and director of the Geriatric and Gerontology Curriculum Department of Family Practice at the University of California-Davis.
Her technical-writing accomplishments included being editor of a physician's medical manual, grants, course developments, lectures and numerous publications in medical journals. Nancy completed her career as a family nurse practitioner and employee health director for Kaiser Permanente-Fairfield and South Sacramento medical centers in Northern California.
Countless family members and friends will feel the vacancy of Nancy's personality, humor, conversations and love.
Surviving without Nancy in their lives are her beloved wife, Diane B. O'Rourke of Sacramento; her brother and sister-in-law, Barry J. and Robin Sullivan of San Francisco; and step-children Tim and Kate O'Rourke of Walnut Creek, Calif., and Patrick and Ana O'Rourke of Sacramento.
Keeping Nancy loved and laughing were her grandchildren Conor and Evelyn O'Rourke of Walnut Creek, and Ryan and Rowan O'Rourke of Sacramento.
Nancy leaves behind Jaime and Maribeth Rodriguez and their daughters Elena and Camila Rodriguez, along with other adored cousins in San Jose; Monterey, Calif.; Phoenix, Ariz.; and Hawaii.
Nancy's favorite charities were AnimalSave of Grass Valley, Calif., the SPCA of Sacramento, Wounded Warriors, and St. Jude's Children's Hospital.

Dear Diane, my heart goes out to you and everyone in yours and Nancy's families. Nancy I will miss so much, she was full of life and fun! I always enjoyed her company and will always cherish the last time we saw you both at our home. We all had some great vacations together and I will always have good memories of them. Nancy was always a trooper on those vacations, never a dull moment and I had no idea how good a tennis player she was.
