Nancy Tarantino Obituary

Nancy J. Tarantino

Nancy Jean Tarantino, 67, passed away on June 12, 2019 as the result of a brain aneurysm. Nancy was the sales manager and administrative advisor at A.Tarantino and Sons for the past 30 years. She also worked part-time at Biordi's in North Beach during those years. Born in San Francisco and raised in the Sunset District, she attended Holy Name Grammar School, St. Rose Academy, and the University of California Santa Barbara.
Nancy was with the love of her life Bert Huffman for the last 33 years. Because of her courageous spirit Nancy followed Bert up Kilimanjaro and Kala Patthar. They had numerous adventures throughout Bhutan, Thailand, and Europe. She also cycled many local miles with her friends.
Nancy's smile and distinctive laugh will forever be in our hearts. She found delight in the company of her nieces and nephews whom she loved to spoil. Nancy's warm gentle spirit made an imprint on the lives of all who knew her. Even in death, Nancy demonstrated her loving spirit by being an organ donor, helping those unknown to her.
Nancy is survived by her husband Bert Huffman, her mother Lydia Tarantino, her siblings Steve Tarantino (Concie), Terry Giorgetti (Rick), Chris McKeon (Tim), Annette Weed (Richard), Laura Tarantino, Tony Tarantino (Julie), Lisa Brodsky (Carl), and Angela Tarantino (Carl DeSalvo), and her many nieces and nephews, their spouses and children. She was predeceased in death by her father Anthony J. Tarantino.
A "Celebration of Life" Mass will be held at Holy Name Church, 1555 39th Avenue, San Francisco, on Saturday June 29th at 11:00 am.
In lieu of flowers please make donations to her favorite charity, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, at www.lls.org

I was so saddened to learn of Nancy's passing. I had been thinking about her just around the time of her death because I arrived in San Francisco with 2 of my granddaughters that day and we went to Tarantino's for dinner the next evening ( I was unaware of the tragedy at that time). Nancy and I were in the same pledge class of Alpha Phi at UCSB and we were also both on the 7th floor of San Nicholas Hall our freshman year. Nancy was always so sweet and dear. I am so deeply sorry for your loss.

Fondly remembering Nancy from the years we spent together at Holy Name. Nancy was loved by all and kind to all. At one of our Holy Name reunions, Nancy brought a stack of 8th grade graduation pictures that she had received from her HN classmates with loving messages ofstay sweet and have fun at St. Rose. I know she did both.
My condolences to all the Tarantino Family for this tragic loss. May you be comforted by all the wonderful memories of your loving sister.
I am sorry I am unable to celebrate her life with you today but I will be holding her and all of you in my heart.

Nancy touched my heart from a very early age. She was always such a deeply beautiful person. I loved her smile and hugs. Biordi's was always a little nicer to work at when she was working next to me. I'm so happy that she left this world being able to give away the gift of life. Even though we were never close in a traditional way, I will miss her immeasurably.

Dear Bert,

John and I are so deeply sorry for this tragic, sudden loss. Our hearts are aching...Nancy lit up your life and had that quiet dazzling presence whenever we saw her--at the South End Rowing Club and when we popped in to Biordi to say hello (and also to buy...).

We wish you a long life, Bert, and our condolences to Nancy's family and loved ones.

Much love, Roberta Guise and John Rohosky
