We mourn the passing of our dear Nancy Walls who brought life and light to her family and to those she touched as a nurse and friend. She struggled for years with Parkinson's Disease and died peacefully in her sleep on Sep. 7. She leaves behind her devoted husband of 44 years, Randy Schekman, and her two talented and loving children, Lauren Storz and Joel Schekman. Nancy is survived by her brother Jim and sister Shirley, their children and grandchildren and Randy's family, his father Alfred his wife Sandy, and brothers Murry, Cary and Tracey and their families. She will be remembered for her wit and strength as a professional woman, but most of all for the unconditional love and laughter she shared with all who had the privilege of knowing her. There will be a memorial service held at Sunset View Cemetery in El Cerrito, CA on Thursday, September 14 at 11:00am. Nancy volunteered for Planned Parenthood and in lieu of flowers would wish any donations to be directed to that essential service. To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.

I worked with Nancy for many years. Being her co-worker was certainly a pleasure. Going the extra mile was the norm for Nancy. Her kindness, generosity and inquisitive mind combined to make her an excellent nurse. In addition, Nancy was very funny. I can still hear her infectious laugh!
Nancy, you were one of those special people and I was so lucky to get to know you.

I had the extreme honor and pleasure of working with Nancy. Twenty years ago my father was suffering at home with metastatic pancreatic cancer. The night before he died I was having trouble controlling his pain. It was 1 am in the morning. I called Hospice, and Nancy was on call. Not only was I relieved to talk to someone I knew and trusted, it was Nancy's kindness, compassion, and expertise that got my dad and family through that very difficult night. I am forever indebted to her. I love you Nancy, and I will miss you.

I am so saddened to learn of Nancy's passing. I danced with Nancy at Jazzercise when we were both students and more recently when Nancy attended the classes I teach. I recognized the determination she brought and her enjoyment of the new routines and especially the "oldies" which make each of us feel the way our bodies felt years ago. I miss Nancy and I am grateful to have known her. I am very sorry that I will not be able to attend the memorial service as I am on vacation and out of the country. My most sincere condolences to all of Nancy's family.

I am so sorry that Nancy is gone, but I am so glad that I got to see her at our Stearns High School Class of 67 reunion in early July. I knew Nancy from our Aroostook Avenue neighborhood from the time I was 4 years old. I talked with Nancy at the reunion and shared my memory of how 5 Millinocket, Maine girls went off to nursing school in Boston in 1967..3 to Mass General Hospital and 2 to St Elizabeths Hospital. She was one of them. We were all fresh, smart, ambitious and wanting to change the world. I know that Nancy must have changed the world around her and she must have been an exemplary nurse, and a wonderful Mom and wife. May she rest in peace.

I am so very saddened to hear of Nancy's passing. What a strong, dear, wonderful woman she was. I was so very pleased that she was able to attend our 50th class reunion recently, and everyone who attended said they were, also. Randy, you are a dear, devoted husband, and friend to Nancy, and I send you my most sincerest condolences. Please know that Nancy impacted me, and I will miss her. May you all find comfort knowing that Nancy is at peace forever now! God bless.
