(76) passed away peacefully on January 11, 2014 at his home in San Francisco, CA. Paul was born in Cleveland, OH to Gordon Leroy Ridgeway and Beatrice Marian Schroeder. He lived in Rocky River, OH until the family moved and settled in San Mateo, CA in 1946.
After graduating from San Jose State University he served for two years in the Air Force. Upon his honorable discharge Paul sought to expand his career opportunities by completing the Harvard Business School Program. After which he joined the Canteen Corporation and became their VP in charge of Sales. Through his success with Canteen he opened up his own franchise in Salinas, CA.
Always looking for another challenge in business; after 26 successful years with Canteen Corporation he changed careers and started working for Easterday Janitorial Supply Company in San Francisco, CA. After 16 years as the President of Easterday Paul enjoyed the joys of retirement when the company sold in 2001.
Paul and his wife Keerrina then retired to, and built their home in, Granite Bay, CA. It was here where he could finally live out his passions. Entertaining their friends pool side in their garden (Paul knew how to BBQ a steak like no other) and racing along the Delta in his boat filled his days in Granite Bay. He traveled to Europe to attend to the auction houses and antique shows there to create his impressive collection of antique arms and armor. Falling in love with London he always exclaimed it was one of his favorite cities in the world, with Amsterdam being a close second. The only passion greater than his antique arms and armor collection was that of cars and racing.
Paul was a courageous and generous man who had the ability to tell the truth and have it heard by even the most reluctant of person. His presence in people's lives was sought after and cherished and many will miss him. Paul is survived by his wife Keerrina, daughter Wendy Ridgeway Talbot (Tim) of Vermont, Step-son Johan Steen and step-daughter Amber Clisura both of San Francisco, and brother Lee Ridgeway (Janet) of Carmichael. Always considered part of the family his best friend Beau, his 13-year-old black Labrador, was by his side till the end.
At Paul's request there are no services planned. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the American Wounded Warriors or the American Humane Society. You may email condolences to the family at [email protected].

Dear Keerrina, Wendy, Lee, and Family,
Please accept my heartfelt condolences at this sad time -- Paul was the best "boss" I ever had, an eminently fair and fairminded man, with a delightful sense of humor. He never left you wondering what he wanted, and had a gentle way of thanking you -- or telling you that you hadn't got it right. His good humor and firm hand made our company run smoothly, through good and not-so-good times. I feel honored to have known and worked with Paul. And, coincidentally, we are both from Rocky River, Ohio although, as he said, he got away from there as soon as he could (age 4)! May he rest in peace, and may we all remember forever the gentleman and friend he truly was.
