Born November 25, 1941 in Phoenix, AZ, died December 21, 2013 in Walnut Creek, CA from complications from cancer. A former litigation partner at the law firm of Seyfarth Shaw in San Francisco, CA, he is survived by is wife, Pamela A., his mother Ruby V. Romo of Ft. Belvoir, VA, his sister Patricia A. Dintaman of Alexandria, VA, and his children, Angela L. Cozad of Fairfield, CA, John G. Bennett of Altadena, CA, and Peter E. Romo, III of Sunol, CA, along with four grandchildren. He attended Stanford University, earning a B.S. in mathematics in 1963 and a law degree (LL.B.) in 1966. On graduation, he entered the U.S. Air Force becoming a Judge Advocate (1967-72) and Chief Trial Counsel for the Western United States (1972-4). Entering private practice, he defended major life and health insurance companies in bad faith and punitive damages actions, as well as other complex litigation matters involving class actions and antitrust claims. He was well known in the legal community as an excellent lawyer, one who was always calm, logical and precise. A faithful supporter of his alma mater, he avidly followed all things Stanford, in particular its football team. He also was a passionate runner, finally achieving a life long dream of running the NYC Marathon in 1995. But his favorite times were always those spent with his family engaging in wide ranging discussions of the day's political or current events, music or opera (Wagner), over meals and wine long into the night. He will be missed by all who were lucky enough to spend time with him.

I'm sad to learn of Peter's passing - I knew him only one school year, as Seniors in High School in Germany. I'd hoped to see and catch up with him at the Las Vegas Reunion, however he wasn't there. I remember him as a brilliant student and a good heart. He was an important part of that Senior class, and as I read, fulfilled his academic and professional promise.
My deep condolences to his family and friends.

I was so sorry to read the news this morning. He will be truly missed from our high school family. What a wonderful and fulfilling life he led, I believe there is no greater calling on this earth than helping others and mentoring those who follow. What wonderful memories he leaves for his family and friends.

What a shock--I had not heard that Pete was ill. Although I had only seen Pete once or twice since HS, he is always a part of my memories of Wiesbaden and that will continue. To Pam and the kids I send my deepest sympathy for your loss of this tremendous man in your life--his legacy will live on through all of you. Most importantly he will be waiting for you when it is your turn

Dear Pam and family,
I just received word of Pete's passing. I am so very, very sorry.
Pete was a friend, and a trusted mentor. It was truly an honor to know Pete and I consider myself very much the better person for having done so.

I am so sad to learn of Pete's passing. I knew him when--he was Junior and I was a sophomore at Bitburg American High School in Bitburg, Germany. We dated briefly and then my father was transferred back to the USA. Saw him again at Stanford. Such a great guy!

Pete was more than a dear friend - he was a mentor to me. I owe much of my success as an attorney to Pete's guidance. He always had time to advise, and he approached his job with energy and good humor. He was a good man and I will miss him.

It took me awhile to make this message simply because I still can't believe he's really gone.
Peter is an outstanding boss which is why I love working for him since early '80s. The only thing not nice about him is his handwriting and I love to tease him about it. As a person, boss and an attorney, he's wonderful, brilliant, always willing to listen and will never make you feel inferior.
To his family, I share in your loss.

Sincere condolences to the family. I was fortunate to work many Lincoln National Life cases with Pete over many years and always considered him to be one of the finest lawyers and a gentleman at all times - a true joy to work with. He will truly be missed by all who knew him.

So sad to hear about Pete's death. As litigation attorney manger for Lincoln Financial Group, I had the privilege of working with Pete for many, many years on California litigation. I have so many stories, but I would like to share just one. Pete's wife Pam is a gourmet cook, and she read about a restaurant in Fort Wayne that was written up in Gourmet magazine. So she told Pete to "make sure when you visit that Mr. Yahne in Fort Wayne when you go there for depositions to have him take you to the Oyster Bar", to which Pete says he responded: "Ken always takes me there. It's a great place." Pete told me that Pam was "duly impressed" Pam, so sorry for your loss.

I met Peter years ago when each of us defended several parties in an arbitration case. Peter was a terrific lawyer, a consummate professional, a true class act, and a pleasure to work with. We stayed in touch after the case ended (favorably), but I'm sorry to say not nearly often enough. I am saddened by his passing, but his smiling face still brings a smile to mine.

It will be the little things that you will remember, the quiet moments, the smiles, the laughter.
And although it may seem hard right now,
It will be the memories of these little things
that help to push away the pain and bring the smiles
back again.

Pete always walked in the office with a big smile and friendly hello. He loved when we celebrated cake day each month at work.
If he was out that day he would call and tell his secretary Gloria, save me some cake. He will truely be missed.
Sorry for your loss.
