Pirjo (Pia) Belton
A resident of Mountain View, left us in the early morning of August 25th, 2012.
Pia was born in Rovaniemi, Finland on January 15, 1950, she was the love, friend and close companion of Winstel Belton, her husband of 43 years; a loving, caring and thoughtful mother to her son Wynn and daughter in law Heather; and a wonderful grandmother to Ava and Kellen, all of whom will miss her greatly.
Known to be honest, gentle, kind and very generous in nature endeared Pia to all who knew her. Being in the moment and the simple things in life provided her the most pleasure. She was always looking forward to and planning her next trip, and delighted in being around her grandchildren.
Well known in the South Bay in furniture retail, Pia began her career with Mobilia in Palo Alto in 1969 rising to a management position there, as well as the Homestore and Scandinavian Designs in subsequent years.
Pia maintained close relations with her family in Finland traveling there almost yearly, and often twice a year. In her life much of her inspirations could be attributed to nature; and being a Finn this is easily understandable.
A celebration of Pia's life is planned at Shoup Park, a natural setting in Los Altos, on Friday, September 28th for her friends and family at 11 AM to 1:00 PM.
In honor of Pia's memory and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Pia Belton Memorial fund with Wells Fargo Bank, Account # 6327144058. Donations will be contributed to educational and cancer research non - profit charities.

Win I am so sorry to come across this obituary. I remember Pia very well - what a lovely charming and sweet woman she was. My parents, Anne & Eric, thought highly of her also. You and Pia were at my wedding in Palo Alto in 1983 and it was so special that you were both there. You were, as you may remember me telling you, my absolute favorite instructor, not just at Palo Alto High, but of all my teachers over the years. You had more of an impact on my life and other students than you'll probably ever know. It is with tears in my eyes I write this condolence to you.
