WOW, 14 years have passed since you went to be with mom. We miss you both, and we think about you both every day.
So many things have happened this past year.. Your kids are doing well. Richie misses you and calls me now and then to say hi or to ask us about memories of you. Your daughter is a beautiful woman. She is in a loving relationship and she is very happy. She will soon be having your first grandchild, a boy, but you probably already knew that...lol
All I can ask is that you and mom keep watching out for us all.. and protect us all when we looks like we need it.

I know it's been awhile.
Today mark's 13 years that we received the call that your life had ended. We all we in disbelief, considering we had just laid mom to rest two weeks before. We believe she needed you there more. Not one day goes by that you aren't missed and loved. I hope you are at peace and continue to watch over our family, especially Richie. He misses you terribly and wishes he had more memories. He has grown into a great young man. He really could use your guidance to keep him on the right path.

Hey you! Finally I can write and leave a bit of legacy. I want you to know the saddest part for me is seeing our daughter and her eyes welled up in tears as she says I will never be able to know what he smells like, see his hands or see his face. Little Richard asking Shainna to tell him about you and she has no stories as not knowing you...only knowing you through me and now a bit from your /her family. Legacy...most wonderful that you left are your children. So wish you could have understood truly what live by and die by the sword really meant. You know I told you..., but to young to really get it. I want to share something with all your friends, family and especially for your children as they are the most important and carry you into life here on earth. Story: We had broke up for the 100th time. I would not see you. You were smart enough to go for my Achilles Heal. Calling with a white kitten and letting me hear the kitten Mew' so it was all over and love and make up as you were on your way up my fire escape in SF. I helped you open the window and let you in with the kitten you named Mala.' You laughed and had the grin and twinkle in your eyes as you lied and told me it meant white. We took her everywhere and on a leash. Then she got loose on one of our party nights and you got so mad bc Monty Smith got out of the Cadillac and she got loose. You made him and all of us look for baby Mala until 3am. No sorry she was never found all. But. I will certainly tell you Richard likes cats more than dogs....well that is when we were together. I sure will try and share more stories, it is hard as such a vibrant man with a good soul got plucked away too too soon. Our minds block the horror. Until next time. Friends, and family please keep Richard's legacy for his children. Post a photo too if you can. Richard would want his children to know about him...and all in good taste.

One year ago today you were taken from us. I still find it hard to believe that when we all get together that you wont be walking through the door demanding to know what time we are gonna eat. Or when we visit the city we wont see you sitting on the wall at the beach or throwing the football, to purposely hit some cute girl your trying to get attention from. I am thinking of you so much lately, I really never get you out of my head. I so regret I never got to see you after 1989 or 1990. I know from all the postings on the internet , that your life was a little hectic, but you have a family who loves you so much. Ever since I've known you, from at least when you were 13 or 14, you were always a little tough guy, which I think your charm was all about, especially that little mischievious grin that you had. I just found a CD(I used to have the album)by AWB, made in 1974. Wow, I remember us back at 15th Avenue, always listening to it, where my sister lived. You were always telling me Gary Riggs was no good for me. Of course you were right, but you were to young for me, so it would have never worked out. I sure do think of you and your family alot. I'm sorry I never got to see you again after 1989 or 1990, but I'll remember you always. I miss you and I will continue to write to you.

You did your best to watch over me in my time of need. Richard, we first met as teenagers. I lived across the bridge and one hot summer day I went to Kelly's Cove. I loved these Sunset guy's -wearing Ben Davis' and steel-toed boots or Converse high top's. There was something different about them, something special. You were my first crush and first boyfriend from S.F. I just couldn't get over those piercing eyes of yours. I once saw you get hit with a tire iron, right between the eyebrows. Yet you still won the fight, as always. We probably should have gotten you some stitches, but that never occurred to us being young and drunk and all. The next morning you were looking in the mirror with a smile on your face, admiring your future battle scar. :) You were indestructable. That is why I never imagined something like this could happen to you. I prey for your family; brothers and sisters, your girlfriend, and your children that God will give them the strength to get through this tragically painful time. Eventhough the last time I saw you was a few years ago, I have shed many tears. I am angry, and I don't understand why this happened. REST IN PEACE, RICHARD. You are missed an awful lot by your family and friends, that is obvious. I am honored to have known you, and I will never, EVER forget you.

Richard I dont konw what to say I dont know how to feel. I cant help but to find myself thinking of your son and how far you two have come or those moments when you would sit there and talk about him for hours into the night. You would cross my mind from time to time but then I would end up seeing you right after. Its hard for a tear's not to fall when you cross my mind now because I know I won't be seeing you aging in this life. I never knew how much I would miss that till now. Although your time on earth ran out too soon, you still managed to make the most of it. You were always so full of life and energy, and constantly on the go. Now we all know why! Thinking back in the beginning... we (Trisha, Dee Dee and the gang) had some real great times hanging out at Cook's, Kelly's Cove, The Grove and all over the city. Remembering you always; as a free spirit. I can still see you, hitching a ride to Kelly’s by hanging onto the back of a Muni bus on roller skates with that little snake in your fro, grinning.

Rich.. We were good friends for close to 20 years. Nothing but fun times and good memories. Always good to see you.
