Richard DeFabio Obituary

Richard DeFabio
07/07/1937 - 06/11/2024
Rich DeFabio passed away peacefully on June 11, 2024, at home in Orinda. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Luise; his two children, Richard B. DeFabio and Ann DeFabio; and five grandchildren, Lucca, Tino, Tina, Patrick, and Louisa. Rich was born in Richmond to Albert and Anna DeFabio. He received his bachelor's degree from Stanford University, where he played baseball, then served in the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany, and later, returned to California to complete his Master of Business Administration, also at Stanford. After living in New York City, where he met Luise, he had a long career as a real estate developer spanning a few Western states and with many properties in the Bay Area, including low-income housing in San Jose and Colma. He was a lifelong baseball fan, a Californian, and a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, who was always caring and kind. He will be forever missed. Private services will be held.

I worked with Rich on several affordable housing financings in San Jose during the late 1990´s and early 2000´s when he was at JSM. To this day, he remains one of the most honorable and kind individuals I have ever worked with. A wonderful human being.
