Richard Fot Hum We are saddened at the passing of our loving husband and father at age 86, in Napa, CA. Born and raised in Butte, MT, he met and married the love of his life, Jane Louie in San Francisco. After retirement he helped establish FTZ #56 in Oakland & served 2 years with the US State Dept in Taiwan (ROC). In 1996 he & Jane entered the Veterans Home of California, Yountville & were enrolled as a couple in their Hall of Fame. He was the AMVETS Coordinator for the Home, 2 term Commander of AMVETS Post 101, served on the Board of Directors of Operation HELP, CA AMVETS Service Foundation, Napa & Sonoma County's Area Agency for Aging, the Napa Airport Museum Board & spearheaded the Northern CA Honor Flight so fellow WWII vets can visit their memorial in Washington, D.C. Can't believe he has been gone this long. I still remember his kindness from my childhood with Sandie in Alameda. Sending my best wishes to the family.

I have very fond memories of spending time with the Hum family in Alameda as a child. It is with great sympathy that I send this message to the family. May Mr. Hum rest in peace and God Bless!

I can't say enough about how wonderfully helpful Dick was to help set up the Northern California Honor Flight hub. His contacts and many friends at the Veterans Home rallied quickly to make it happen. He believed in what many thought was impossible and shared the honor of seeing his WWII Memorial with so many he helped get there. I know his career speaks volumes of his love for America, but even retired, he never stopped giving back to those who were in need. I know that I will always be grateful for his help and will never forget him.

Thank you for ALL you did for Veterans everywhere and thank you for believing in me and in the Honor Flight vision. Rest in Peace Dick, I will miss you.

My mother, Betty Mark, and I were so saddened by the news of Uncle Dick passing. My parents and Dick and Jane were stationed together in Anchorage, Alaska. They tell me that Rickie and I played together in our playpens and that I once told Uncle Dick at Halloween to "Take off your mask!" (he wasn't wearing a mask) Even tho' they haven't been able to visit as often as they would have liked, Dick and Jane and my mom did see each other from time to time. My mother still regards both Uncle Dick and Auntie Jane as her and Dad's lifelong friends.
