Our beloved brother, uncle, cousin, and friend, Richard T. Suttle, passed away on November 12, 2016 at the age of 66. He was born in Albuquerque, NM in 1950 to John F. and Marion E. Suttle. Richard graduated from Las Lomas High School in Walnut Creek (voted most likely to succeed), attended Stanford and UC Berkeley, graduated with a BS from Univ. of New Mexico, and obtained his DDS from Marquette Univ. Richard was a champion wrestler (2nd in State), a Conscientious Objector, a Dentist, a middle school teacher, and a friend to all who knew him. He loved to backpack, shoot hoops, pump iron, watch Seinfeld, philosophize, and hang out with friends and family. Richard had no malice and was a sweet, kind man. He is survived by siblings Susan J. Rojas (Jose M. Rojas), Peter F. Suttle, and John C. Suttle (Mojdeh Suttle); nieces Katrina Rojas, Annie Rojas (Jeffrey A. Jacobs); Eileen Rojas, Jessica McBride (Sean McBride); nephew John C. Suttle, Jr.; and by grandnephews Alejandro Jacobs and Milo McBride. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Richard's name to the Amy Winehouse Foundation. To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.

Dick was in my sixth grade class at Walnut Heights Elementary in Walnut Creek, CA. I remember him as being very precocious as he questioned each female square dance partner that he dad.
I just attended our 50th high school reunion (9/29/2018) for Las Lomas and it was only then that I learned of his untimely passing.
I send him love through the ethers and thank him for his presence here. He made quite a contribution! My heartfelt condolences to his family.

Susie, John, and Peter,
This comes as an utter shock to me and I send you all my condolences. I have fond memories of growing up with you as some of my closest friends--Richard (Dickie) included. One of our best times was a backpacking trip with your Dad and Gwen in the Siskiyous to the Upper and Lower Caribou Lakes. We caught so many fish that we gave a lot of our catch to a passing pack train. I will always look upon those times happy that we were able to experience them and each other.
With sympathy,

Dear Suttles,
It was with shock and sorrow that I read today about Dick. You might remember me as your neighbor in Walnut Creek. Dick and John were very important to me as I grew up a very short kid and son of jewish immigrant holocaust survivors. I was a little insecure and with reason at times. Dick took me under his wing at Las Lomas and introduced me to his weight lifting buddies, Steve Rhodes and others and encouraged me to go out for wrestling for which I developed a lifetime love. Dick and John would include me in their trips to AAU wrestling tournaments in Concord or the Central Valley. Big adventures for a kid whose parents were apprehensive at best about sports. I saw Dick a couple of times since then and he was very respectful and interested in how my life was going. Never pretentious or judgemental for such an accomplished guy which unfortunately I have run into a few times. I wish I'd followed up with Dick over the past few years after we talked in San Francisco. This is way too soon.
