Richard passed away on the 11th July 2024, in Vienna, Austria. Richard was the personification of the true West Coast gentleman of a bygone era, always impeccably dressed, well-mannered and charming. He was a softly-spoken, gentle and a kind man but with a sheer determination and positive outlook, that anything was possible, which enabled him to succeed in both his personal and professional lives.
Born in San Francisco, California on October 14, 1933 to Dorothea and Richard Cornwell Walker. Richard Sr. came to California from Hawaii where the family lived for five generations. Dorothea Williamson's Family came from San Francisco and Sacramento.
Richard attended the Town School for Boys in San Francisco, California, St. Marks School, Southborough, Mass, Avon Old Farms School, Avon, Conn. and Colorado Springs, Colorado. He Also attended the University of Munich, Munich, Germany.
Richard who had great taste and a fantastic eye for beauty worked for Abercrombie in San Francisco, New York, New Jersey and Colorado Springs. He was then transferred to London, England to oversee their European operations. He left Abercrombie and Fitch in 1973 and 1974 started his own business representing many retail companies as a buying agent. He lived in London for over 40 years with his Austrian wife Christine.
Richard is a member of the Burningame Country Club, The Cypress Point Club, The Brook Club, Sunningdale Golf Club, Swinley Forest Golf Club and Whites Club London, England. He was a keen golfer, skier and enjoyed collecting coins, stamps and wine. He was a trustee of the American Museum in Bath, England.
Richard is survived by his wife Christine and their son Marco who resides in Los Angeles with his wife Zoe and their children Cosmo and Birdie.
