February 7, 1925 - December 20, 2020
Robert Philip Dito (2/7/1925 - 12/20/2020) passed away peacefully at the age of 95. Born and raised in San Francisco to Joseph and Amelia Dito. Brother to the late Evelyn (Harry) Doyle and Joseph (Josephine) Dito. Preceded in death by his wife Marilyn. He is survived by his children, Donna, Gregory (Laura), and Gary Dito, and grandchildren Nick Silva, Lindsay (Kyle) Wallstrum, Matthew (Laura), Michael, and Amy Dito. Graduate of Washington High. Veteran of World War II, member of the 280th Field Artillery, U.S. Army in Europe. He married Marilyn in 1957, and settled down in the Sunset District in St. Gabriel Parish, where they raised their three children. Many weekends and summers were spent with family in Boyes Hot Springs. Along with his father and brother, Bob owned the Gilt Edge Market on Sacramento Street for many years. When the store closed in the '70's, he moved on to Heieck Supply where he retired in 1989. He and his friends created The Poker Club, where for years they got together every Wednesday night to play cards and share laughs. Along with their wives, the Club also enjoyed dinners and vacation cruises. Bob and Marilyn eventually moved to Sonoma County, where he lived until his death. Bob was known for his smile and quiet nature. He will be missed by all. Services private. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Dear Greg and Gary,
I am writing on behalf of The Ron Egigian Family, with our most sincere condolences. I have been trying to find out about your Dad, my Godfather for a while now and even wrote a note to Donna a year or so ago, two days ago I found out per the internet that has Donna passed also. I'm so sorry to hear this also. My father and your Dad were first cousins and I believe my dad is Greg's Godfather. I would like to talk to to someone in your family to get addresses and phone numbers and catch up on family news, we recently lost our Auntie Carole Egigian and my youngest brother a year ago Douglas Egigian. Since I don't recall seeing any one from your family my dad's brother David Egigian also passed a couple years ago.

My condolences to the Dito family. I worked with Robert, Joe, and Louis at the Gilt Edge Market during the summer of '59. It was a great experience for a high school junior, driving a p/u around Pacific Heights, catering to all the City elites. We'd start the day with breakfast at the Feed Bag resto on California, then suit up for another day @8, and the phones would start the orders coming in. I worked on the butcher side with Herman Anti, Nak Naccarini, and Frankie Cirimele. Learned a lot and had fun. I got to know the City and the neighborhood: it was a long way from the Sunset/avenues. Fond memories of a City that is gone forever.

Donna, Greg, and Gary ...Thinking of you with sincere sympathy. I was about 14 and in Bobby and Marilyn's wedding! Bobby used to stop by Mom/Dad's house often when your grandparents lived down the street from us on 39th. Cousin, Jeri Lucia-Johnson
