From a very grateful patient, albeit years late, my deepest condolences to the Fishman Family, UCSF Community and friends. Having been referred to Dr. Fishmen with a rather outrageous migraine hx, Dr. Fishman did not blink an eye; took time with me - lots of time; then, asked me what I thought had started this entire "thing." Knowing him to be the "Migraine Guru west of the Mississippi," I thought I'd better give him the best answer possible, so answered, "It was as though on that July day a physiologic switch was either turned on or off, sending me into migraine turmoil." (Presently, dx is chronic bilateral migraine.) Dr. Fishman then sat back in his chair and frankly told me, "You could have this daily for months, a year, or you could have it for the rest of your life." I felt blessed that during my 2 appts he was not only the epitome of kindness, but was also frank, which I very badly needed. Thank you, Dr. Fishman.

Dr Fishman was one of my first mentors at UCSF while I was a pediatric neurology resident at UCSF. I will always remember his wonderful teaching and excellent diagnostics. His textbook on cerebrospinal fluid is a classic and should be part of every neurologist's library. Dr. Fishman will be missed.

I am so sorry to hear this sad news. Dr. Fishman was such a kind gentle man and I will always remember his quiet way and his warm smile. He raised 3 lovely girls - one my best friend for life!!

Dr. Fishman has a very special place in my heart. I have beautiful, funny, warm memories of being welcome in his home during my childhood. My sincere and heart felt condolences to his family, especially his daughters.
