Ronald McGlashan Obituary

Ronald Gordon McGlashan Passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends June 19 at the San Francisco Veterans Hospital. He is survived by his brother Norman McGlashan; nephew, John McGlashan; niece, Karen McGlashan; and other relatives: Joyce Hollinghead, Greg Hollinghead, and Paul Hollinghead, all are residents of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ormi and Eric McGlashan; and his brother Ken McGlashan of Canada. Ron was born on October 23, 1947 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. He has been a resident of the United States for 40 years. He served in the United States Army, completing three tours of duty in Vietnam. He was awarded eight citations for service including the Bronze Star Medal. Ron was an accomplished writer and worked for the San Francisco Police Public Relations Dept. Ron was a physical fitness trainer and received many body building competition awards. He was a volunteer at St. Francis Hospital. Ron's true love was music. It was a very important part of his life. He was a drum major for many marching bands throughout his lifetime including the Toronto 48th Highlanders and the world champion Prince Charles Pipe Band. He most recently was a member of the San Francisco Irish Pipers Band. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, June 26 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Anne Church, 850 Judah Street, San Francisco, CA. Friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Ron's life at the Irish Cultural Center, 2700 45th Ave., San Francisco, CA, immediately following the Memorial Service.
